Fast X: Everything We Know So Far

By ShoaibPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

You know how they say that the sky's the limit? Even after F9 sent Tej and Roman to space, the Fast & Furious franchise is no longer the same. The film series, which began as a story about racers and fast cars, has evolved into a global action franchise. Fast & Furious has come a long way from its street racing roots over the last nine films, but this maddening joyride is finally nearing its end.

Fast & Furious 10, officially titled Fast X, will be the series' final installment, concluding the adventures of Vin Diesel's Dominic Torreto. With the release date approaching, we're getting a better idea of what the film is about. So far, here's everything we know about Fast X, including release dates and trailers, as well as cast, filming details, characters, and plot information.

When Is Fast X's Release Date?

The first installment of Fast X is set to be released on May 19, 2023. The previous film, F9, had one of the most successful theatrical runs of the pandemic period, so unless something really drastic happens, we'll be seeing the upcoming film in theatres.

Fast X was supposed to arrive in April 2021, but that date was pushed back due to F9's delays. It was then scheduled to be released on April 7, 2023, but has since been pushed back again. There's no word on when Part 2 of the film will be released, but we'll probably find out soon enough.

Fast X Story

Fast X, the tenth installment in the Fast & Furious Saga, ushers in the final chapters of one of cinema's most storied and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same core cast and characters that it began with.

Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outwitted, out-nerved, and outdriven every foe in their path over many missions and against impossible odds. They are now up against the most dangerous foe they have ever encountered: A terrifying threat emerges from the shadows of the past, fueled by blood vengeance, and determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves for all time.

Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a Rio de Janeiro bridge in Fast Five (2011). What they didn't realise was that Reyes' son, Dante (Aquaman's Jason Momoa), witnessed everything and has spent the last 12 years plotting a way to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dom's family will be scattered from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London, and from Portugal to Antarctica as a result of Dante's plot. New allies will be formed, and old foes will reappear. But everything changes when Dom discovers that Dante's ultimate target is his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish).

Fast X, directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk), stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena, and Scott Eastwood, as well as Oscar® winner Helen Mirren and Oscar® winner Charlize Theron.

The movie also has a remarkable new cast, including Oscar® winner Brie Larson as Tess, a rogue Agency representative; Alan Richtson (Reacher) as Aimes, the new Agency head; Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as a Brazilian street racer with a significant connection to Dom's past; and legendary Oscar® winner Rita Moreno as Dom and Mia's Abuelita Toretto.

Vin Diesel, Justin Lin, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Neal H. Moritz, and Samantha Vincent are the producers of the movie Fast X. Mark Bomback, Chris Morgan, David Cain, Amanda Lewis, and Joseph M. Caracciolo, Jr. are the executive producers.

Does Fast X Have a Trailer?

The official trailer for Fast X, set to a remixed version of The Notorious B.I.G's "Notorious Thugs," was released on February 10, 2023, ahead of Super Bowl LVII, and it's as big, bombastic, and bloated as the franchise itself. The nearly 4-minute trailer introduces fans to several new characters, including Jason Momoa's villainous Dante, who happens to be the son of Hernan Reyes, the drug kingpin who Dom and his family battled in Fast Five.

The trailer also introduces Academy Award Winner and Hollywood legend Rita Moreno as Dom and Mia's Abuelita Toretto, as well as Academy Award Winner Brie Larson as Tess, who is presumably Dom's new family member. The trailer also revealed that John Cena's Jakob Toretto, who played the main villain in the previous installment, will now collaborate with his estranged brother Dom. A shortened version of the trailer, which you can see below, was also released during Super Bowl LVII.
