Everything You Need to Know About Kraket

At the Vrije Universities (VU) Amsterdam, the study association for Econometrics and Operations Research is called Kraket. Kraket, which stands for "Kritische Aktuarissen en Econometristen," or "Critical Actuaries and Econometricians," was established on July 14, 1972. There is a good reason why the majority of VU econometrics students are members of the association. Every workday, you can stop by our room (HG-8A30) between 10 and 4 to work, buy books, ask questions, or just hang out.

Through casedays, inhousedays, and the annual "Landelijke Econometristendag," or "National Econometricians Day," Kraket brings together students and business life. Members can connect with businesses and learn more about the job market at these events.

Additionally, Kraket organizes a study abroad trip every two years. A group of students went to Madrid in 2015 to see a number of businesses, a university, the Dutch embassy, and, of course, the city itself. Istanbul, Tokyo, New York, Atlanta, Hong Kong, and Brazil were among the destinations of previous study trips. In 2017, the next study trip will be held.

Workshop on Cocktails:

This event for master's students will take place on December 1 at Het Groene paleis from 8 to 10 p.m. After the workshop, a homemade cocktail is enjoyed. If you would rather not drink alcohol this evening, you can participate in this cocktail workshop by making a mocktail. The registration for the Cocktail Workshop will begin on November 17th.

Sinterklass:

It's that time of year again: Sinterklass. Sinterklaas is on his way to the Netherlands in the form of poetry and a note written on paper. If you have been sweet, you will get sweets. However, you will be iced if you have not been nice. Kraket celebrates Sinterklass on December 2nd. On November 15, the Sinterklass event will begin.

Event for alumni:
