Where do you stand today? Are you doing the same things you did ten or twenty years ago, or have you grown, changed, and evolved? What lessons have you learned along the way, and what dreams have you left behind? These are not questions born out of dissatisfaction—because everything begins with gratitude—but rather out of awareness. Too often I see people living by the expectations of others, quietly forgetting how to dream.
Deepak Chopra once said,
“Dream as much as you want, because reality has not brought us much good.”
What he might not have fully realized is that dreams can become reality. Yet many people hesitate, paralyzed by the fear of failure.
The Cycle of Work and Waiting
Most people work their whole lives and find themselves with little to show for it. How often do we hear of someone who finally reaches retirement—only to pass away shortly after? For decades they worked toward that “ultimate goal,” only to discover it was a fragile illusion.
Social media tells the same story in a different way: people posting “Yesss, weekend!” as if the rest of their week is something to endure. This mindset made me pause. Was that really the way I wanted to live?
In 2014, I decided no.
Choosing a Different Path
After the economic crisis, I returned to work in 2013. But I couldn’t ignore the sense that life had to offer more than the endless loop of working, paying rent, and repeating the cycle until the end of time. I didn’t want a thirty-year mortgage or the weight of debt on my shoulders.
So, I looked for a different way. I chose a piece of land and began building a life on my own terms. In 2014, I moved into a small forest hut, no bigger than five by six meters. It wasn’t much, but it represented freedom. In 2020, I tore it down and built something new in its place—a home that reflected who I was becoming.
A Journey of Growth
My turning point came in 2023, when I immersed myself in personal development. I attended the Millionaire Mind Intensive, a training based on T. Harv Eker’s book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. There I learned something crucial: wealth isn’t just about money. It’s about mindset.
How can you expect to live abundantly if you constantly think small? How can you create a fulfilling life if you believe you’re unworthy?
In many societies, the idea of wanting to become wealthy is treated almost like a dirty word. But money, I learned, is just a tool—like a hammer for a carpenter. It’s not the end goal, but it can help build dreams, not only for yourself but also for others.
Beyond Money: The Real Wealth
True wealth is not found in chasing money alone. It’s about doing things with joy, passion, and purpose. When you align with these values, the money tends to follow. Wealth is not a formula; it’s a way of living. It requires a mindset of growth and the courage to take action.
Too many people fall into the trap of exchanging time for money. A job feels safe, but when you stop working, the income stops too. As Robert Kiyosaki once said:
“Take responsibility for your finances or get used to taking orders for the rest of your life. You either master your money or become a slave to it.”
Rethinking Security
We’re taught that a “secure job” is the answer, but in reality, it can be a trap. Wages often remain the same while the cost of living rises endlessly. History shows us that prices rarely go down. Complaining about it won’t change anything—only action will.
I’ve tried chasing “the next big idea,” but in today’s world of instant communication, almost every idea has already been thought of. What I learned instead is that sustainable wealth comes not from one-time wins, but from creating systems and mindsets that continue to grow over time.
The Bigger Picture
This is not about quick fixes or miracle formulas. It’s about daring to think differently. It’s about questioning the so-called security of the well-trodden path. It’s about realizing that your dreams are valid and possible—if you have the courage to pursue them.
I’ve learned that too many people underestimate the power of their own choices. They stay in jobs they dislike, waiting for weekends, waiting for retirement, waiting for a “better time.” But life doesn’t wait.
So, let me ask you:
What dreams have you postponed, and what step could you take today to move closer to them?
