There's bound to be something creepy on the site.

Wikipedia is a vast website with a lot of articles, so it’s no surprise that there are some that are a little unsettling. Let’s dive into ten of them, shall we?

  1. List of unusual articles - We’ll start with something not-so-creepy. Maybe more meta than anything. This is a list on the Wikipedia site that the people of this site decided were strange, unusual and/or creepy.
  2. Frederick Valentich - He was a pilot who disappeared during a training flight over Bass Strait. Frederick radioed Melbourne Flight Service at 7:06 PM October 21, 1978 to report what essentially was a UFO. This unidentified craft, according to his report, was 1000 feet above him and the landing lights were moving erratically. His last words were, “It isn’t an aircraft.” That’s all he got out before he was interrupted by a loud metallic sound.
  3. Genie - A pseudonym for a feral child who was neglected and abused by her father. Genie’s father decided to start completely isolating her starting at 20 months old. During her first 13 years of life, she spent most of it tied down to her crib or a child’s toilet and in her room. When she was found, she was extremely malnourished, still in diapers, and couldn’t talk. According to her Wikipedia and as of writing this article, she is still alive.
  4. Mary Bell - Mary was a young child who took the lives of two other children who were younger than her. Her childhood was already hard, being an unwanted and mistreated child. She did end up getting released in the ‘80s. Not much is known about her now besides the fact that she has a child herself and she is still alive. She has lived under a series of pseudonyms since.
  5. Voynich Manuscript - This manuscript is a text that dates back to 15th-century northern Italy. It is written in an unknown language, with many weird illustrations of people, plants, and animals. It has yet to be deciphered, so it was named after Polish bookdealer Wilfred Voynich who bought it in 1912.
  6. Black-Eyed Kids - Also known as BEKs, these are unknown creatures many people chalk up to being an urban legend. I say “unknown” because many can’t seem to agree on whether BEKs are aliens, demons, or something else altogether. They look like completely normal children, except for their eyes which are completely black. Many people have reported to encounter them and have felt a horrible sense of dread and terror.
  7. Tarrare - This man was a soldier and showman most well known for his appetite, living from 1772-1798. It was said that he could eat the same amount as 15 men in one sitting. He supposedly ate corpses and was once accused of eating a toddler.
  8. Euthanasia Coaster - This was a concept rollercoaster with the idea that, you guessed it, a ride on it could kill you. It would give riders a euphoric and elegant ending to their lives. In theory, it would kill you in just a single ride.
  9. Scaphism - This is a supposed Persian torture method. The victim would be tied between two boats and force fed and covered in honey and milk. He would be left out in the scalding sun while he’s eaten alive by insects. But there’s nothing solid saying that it was actually ever used.
  10. Benjamin Kyle - Benjamin is best known for having one of the most severe cases of amnesia in America. He was also the only known missing person despite people knowing his whereabouts. Through DNA evidence, it was revealed that Kyle was actually William Burgess Powell. Although, there is still the mystery of the 20-year document-less period in his life.

Is there a Wikipedia article that you find creepy or unsettling?
