we took a train from Ajmer to Agra early morning and reached Agra around 9:10 AM. We took a taxi to find a room as we had to get fresh and leave soon because we had only 1 day to explore Agra, we thought to start with Taj Mahal which I think the main reason tourist visit Agra.

Best Places to Visit Agra in One Day

1. Taj Mahal, Agra (Best Places to Visit Agra)

To reach Taj mah.al we booked a taxi which is located on the southern bank of the Yamuna River, Taj Mahal is the icon of Agra, India. It is one the seven wonders of the world, it had been built under the instructions of Shah Jahan in commemoration of his love to his beloved spouse Arjumand Bano Begum.

You will get a lot of crowds but if you want to avoid the crowds you should visit early in the morning, It usually opens 45 minutes before sunrise so try to reach before sunrise so you can witness beautiful sunrise and also you can get marvellous photoshoot there.

There’s never a bad time to see the Taj Mahal, but it’s worth getting here early–the building seems to radiate at sunrise. Tourists can enter the UNESCO World Heritage Site via the west and east gates. Once inside, explore the ornamental gardens, which feature calming water features that reflect the Taj. Then, head inside the Taj itself and admire its perfect symmetry and white marble with elaborate floral cavings and semiprecious stone inlays.

Sightseeing around the Taj Mahal complex continues at the Kau Ban Mosque, west of the Taj, and the Jawab, a building intended to mirror the mosque and preserve symmetry on the main structure’s eastern side.

The complex was a witness to 130 years of Mughal reign. If you want to step back in history and take a peek inside what that era looked like, go for a stroll inside the complex. From the magnificent Mughal architecture to cuisines sold outside the complex, everything has been inspired by the memorable era of the Mughals.

2. Agra fort, Agra

It is my Favorite Agra fort. It is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Agra. If you love to see historical monuments and even if you are not must visit this magnificent fort, It will take you back in Mughal times, The beauty of this Red sandstone Agra Fort will blow your heart away you will just love it.

There are several exquisite monuments in Agra Fort which you must see. There are vast underground sections. The Diwan-I-Aam is a place where Mughal emperor Shah Jahan used to listen to the problems of his people. Left to the Diwan-I- Aam is a large and beautiful courtyard. The beautiful Nagina Masjid is also one of the most popular attractions to see in Agra Fort. The other attractions to see here are Shesh Mahal, Khas Mahal and Jahangir’s Palace.

Referred to as the Walled City, Agra Fort has four gates on the four sides which the most famous being the Delhi Gate and the Lahore Gate. This fort hosts numerous palaces and notable among them being the Shish Mahal and Khaas Mahal. Reception rooms Diwan-i-Khas and Diwan-i-Aam to several historic Masjids like Moti Masjid and Nagina Masjid are other worth seeing spots in this fort.

Like the rad fort in Delhi, Agra fort is also called red fort of Agra, it has some similarities in architecture Both are red sandstone walled cities with gardens, palaces, audience halls, etc.

You can see the Taj Mahal at a distance from a pavilion in Agra Fort. When the emperor Shah Jahan was imprisoned in Agra Fort for his final 8 years, gazing at the Taj Mahal was his only way to relieve his loneliness and depression until his death.

3. Itimad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb, Agrav

On the banks of the Yamuna River sits another one of Agra’s exquisite structures: Itimad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb. The mausoleum contains the remains of Mirza Ghiyas Beg, a Persian official who served the Mughal empire, as well as his wife.

The reason why Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah is called Baby Taj is pretty self-evident. Yes, it looks like a miniature version of Taj Mahal, however, it has its own charm and elegance. Located on the eastern bank of Yamuna river, the tomb of Mirza Ghiyas Beg has a resplendent architecture and intricately carved jalis or window screens.

This was the first structure to be built entirely out of marble stones, with pietra dura, and make use of the famous pleasure gardens. Take a walk around the monument, after which you can leave for exploring the Mehtab Bagh.

Entry Fee: ₹10 for Indians, ₹110 for Foreigners & ₹25 for Camera
