Back to the Cringe: A Time Traveling Tale of Embarrassment
A Broke College Student's Journey Through the Most Awkward Moments of His Past

As I walked home from my part-time job, my stomach growled with hunger. Being a college student, I was always broke and couldn't afford much. Suddenly, something caught my eye in the grass. It was a small, metal object with intricate designs etched into it. I picked it up, feeling the weight of it in my hand. It looked like some kind of ancient artifact, but I had no idea where it came from or what it was used for.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to take it back to my dorm room and examine it more closely. I spent the next few hours researching online, trying to figure out what this strange object could be. Finally, I came across a forum post that mentioned something about a time machine. It seemed far-fetched, but I decided to give it a try.
I placed the artifact on my desk and tried to activate it, but nothing happened. I was about to give up when suddenly, a bright light engulfed me, and I felt myself being pulled backward through time. When I opened my eyes, I was in the middle of my high school cafeteria, surrounded by my former classmates.
I quickly realized that the artifact was indeed a time machine, but it only took me back to embarrassing moments in my past. I was stuck, unable to control where or when I would end up. I found myself in my childhood home, dressed in my favorite superhero costume, surrounded by my family. I was mortified, trying to hide behind the couch, hoping they wouldn't see me.
The next moment, I found myself in the middle of a crowded classroom, with everyone staring at me as I tripped and spilled my lunch all over myself. The humiliation was overwhelming, and I couldn't bear the thought of experiencing this again and again.
But then, I had an idea. What if I could use the time machine to change the course of events, to prevent these embarrassing moments from happening in the first place? I set out on a mission, traveling back to pivotal moments in my past, determined to make things right.
I changed the outcome of a basketball game, where I had previously missed a crucial shot, causing my team to lose. I stopped myself from trying to impress a girl with my terrible dance moves, which had become a running joke among my friends. And slowly, but surely, I started to feel more confident in my own skin.
As I continued to use the time machine, I realized that I had been given a unique opportunity to not only change the past but also learn from it. I saw the mistakes I had made and the people I had hurt, and I was able to make amends, apologizing and making things right.
But as much as I enjoyed being able to fix my past mistakes, I knew I couldn't keep relying on the time machine forever. It was time to face the present and the future, to embrace who I was and who I wanted to be.
I made the decision to destroy the artifact, to let go of the past and move forward with my life. It was a difficult decision, but I knew it was the right one. I had learned so much about myself and had grown as a person, thanks to the experiences I had gone through.
Now, as I look back on that time in my life, I am grateful for the opportunity to have gone on such a unique journey. I have come to accept my flaws and embrace my imperfections, knowing that they are a part of who I am. And although I may still cringe at the thought of some of those embarrassing moments, I can now laugh at them, knowing that they helped shape me into the person I am today.
After a few weeks of using the time machine, the college student found himself feeling more confident and less ashamed of his past. He started making different decisions, taking risks, and putting himself out there.
One day, while walking through campus, he saw a poster advertising a talent show. Despite his previous embarrassment on stage, he decided to give it another shot. He spent weeks practicing his guitar and perfecting his singing.
On the night of the talent show, the college student took the stage with confidence. He closed his eyes and began to play, pouring his heart and soul into his performance. When he finished, the audience erupted into cheers and applause.
As he walked off stage, feeling proud and accomplished, he realized that the time machine had given him more than just a chance to change his past. It had given him the opportunity to believe in himself and to embrace who he truly was.
From that day forward, the college student continued to use the time machine, but not to change his embarrassing moments. Instead, he used it to relive his happiest memories, to spend more time with loved ones who had passed away, and to appreciate the little moments in life.
He graduated from college with a newfound sense of purpose and a deep appreciation for the journey that had brought him there. He went on to pursue his dream of becoming a musician, never forgetting the lessons he had learned from the time machine.
As for the artifact itself, he eventually decided to retire it, knowing that his greatest moments were yet to come and that the memories he would make in the present and future were just as important as those from the past.
The end.
