Apeejay School, Pitampura celebrates its Annual Appreciation Day with panache
The event Aks-E-Aina presents stellar cultural performances that brought out the theme of self-reflection through iconic tales and charismatic performances

mirror is not just a super shiny surface. It is the world’s highest metaphor, a poetry of self-introspection. If only each person could look deep and see their character instead of their external form, this world would be a much happier and honest place.
Apeejay School, Pitampura has always promoted honest self-reflection among students coupled with celebration of their strengths and a gradual acceptance accompanied with caring correction of flaws. Hence, it was no surprise that their Annual Appreciation Day was called Aks-E-Aina.
The Chief Guest Mr Manish Jain, Deputy Director, Directorate of Education, Private School Branch and Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Bijayalaxmi Nanda, Principal, Miranda House, University of Delhi, were given a guard of honour by the school band and were accorded a green welcome along with other dignitaries. Education Officers Mr NN. Nayyar and Ms Anita Paul also graced the event and elevated the special day with their presence.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp as soulful multi-cultural hymns by the school orchestra created a serene atmosphere.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Mr Manish Jain congratulated all participants for the charismatic performances. He mentioned, “The school has fulfilled its mission to impart value based holistic education. After witnessing the rich tapestry of rhythms and incredible talent of the students today, I am happy to say that our nation will be in safe hands. Keep working hard dear students and always remember that integrity, honesty, sympathy, empathy and perseverance will take you a long way in life. Be kind and forgiving and work towards your goal relentlessly.”
Subsequently, Prof. (Dr.) Bijayalaxmi Nanda in her address said, “I congratulate the school for the beautiful way in which the theme of the reflection in mirror was presented. The metaphor of the mirror has been widely used in literature ranging from the works of Shakespeare, Caroll and Wilde. The school has given a beautiful lesson of self-acceptance which is commendable. I would request all parents to celebrate your children irrespective of their achievements for they are the real prizes. Be the wind beneath their wings and they will certainly soar high!”
Sharing a special video message on this occasion while warmly welcoming the dignitaries, Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, shared, “At Apeejay Education, we always encourage our students to soar higher. I congratulate the school for its commendable work in all realms. An education rooted in Indian culture has been the hallmark of Apeejay Education. Resilience, adversity, caution, and a broad spectrum of human values are blended seamlessly with the curriculum. On the other hand, arts, music, sports, theatre in education, yoga and meditation are all synergised with the curriculum. In essence, Apeejay Education is a social commitment of my grandfather, Dr Stya Paul, an eminent industrialist, educationist, freedom fighter, and philanthropist. He is the inspiration behind all of our institutions.”
She further mentioned, “We adopt emerging technology at all levels of a student’s journey, including the new frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the Internet of Things. I congratulate all those who are going to get prizes today. To those who have not, I would like to say that you should never give up on your dreams. I congratulate Principal Mrs Veena Goel and her dedicated team for their commendable work.”
Before reading the Annual Appreciation report, Mrs Veena Goel, Principal, paid homage to the Founder-Chairman Dr Stya Paul and spoke about his fortitude amidst the countless struggles he faced throughout his life. Mrs Goel also expressed her gratitude towards Mrs Sushma Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, Mr Nishant Berlia, Mr Aditya Berlia, and Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Promoters, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellors, Apeejay Stya University.
Highlighting the school’s immense achievements across multiple domains she emphasised, “It brings me immense joy to look back on such a fruitful year where the school achieved both the expected and the unexpected and also managed to set new milestones. Education is the passport to a successful future and Apeejay School, Pitampura is committed to provide holistic education.”
The grand occasion featured a marvellous performance titled “Magical Melody” by Symphony, the school orchestra, surely lived up to its name. The show saw a heartfelt offering of Raag Kirwani, as students through various instruments such as violin, mandolin, sitar, guitar, drum and others soulfully expressed their inner magic and melody.
A short animated film explained the theme of the evening Aks-E-Aina and reintroduced all to the power of positive self-affirmation. It was followed by an invocation and stuti to Lord Ganesha seeking blessings for a hurdle less event.
However, it was the “Girl in the Mirror” dance by the pre-primary students that became the highlight performance. Dancing with panache in their shiny dance costumes, the loud applause from the audience was only a precursor to the charisma of the students.
With cinematic entrances between song transitions and a perfect sync in dance movements, it was a spectacle to behold as the tiny tots spread their sparkle to loud applause. Be it acrobatic cartwheel movements or using the mirror as prop behind the dance costumes, it was simply cuteness overloaded.
A similar applause ensued for the school choir as they sang a philosophical masterpiece ‘Tora Mann Darpan Kehlaaye’. The song with its deep poetic lyrics highlighted how the human mind is a mirror reflecting one’s beliefs, values and aspirations.
The showstopper dance drama Aks- E-Aina began with two identical looking students standing on both sides of a giant mirror and narrating the audience the truth behind illusions and reflections.
Through a delightful depiction of the iconic fairy tale Snow White and her seven dwarves, accompanied by lovely dances such as the dance of the evil mother along with splendid theatrical performances by the students, the lesson of one’s beauty being in one’s good deeds and not in external self was well received.
Finally, the message of self-reflection was highlighted through the majestic tale of Samrat Ashok, introspecting the flipside of his ambition and colossal violence as he got confronted by the women in Kalinga who were forced to take up arms to protect their homeland.
The emperor reflects in the mirror of his heart and finds solace in Lord Buddha’s teachings of non-violence and peace. Students dancing with sword props was totally unique and masterfully executed. It was equally joyous witnessing students deliver tough dialogues effortlessly.
A special dance performance followed as students wore mono-chromatic colours, highlighting the inner turmoil one faces while self-reflection with the process finally culminating in a peaceful self-acceptance of both good and bad traits.
Apeejay School, Pitampura celebrated its class 12 school toppers across all streams. The school honoured its teachers Mr Sudhir Ranjan and Mr Arvind Kaushal for their incredible accolades and also gave a shout out to students securing prestigious scholarships, awards and cracking entrance exams to secure admission in prestigious institutions across the nation.
The School continues to foster excellence across academics, sports, arts, and values, providing a holistic education to its students and preparing them to excel in various fields.
This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony as Chief Guest Mr Manish Jain awarded prizes to the class 12 school and subject toppers across all streams while Guest of Honour Prof Bijayalaxkhmi gave away the special achievements awards.
