Under the purple cloud valley

Magical realism story

By Sughran KhushiPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Under the purple cloud, there lived a small village nestled in a valley surrounded by tall mountains. The villagers were simple folk who went about their daily chores with contentment and joy. The sun shone bright on most days, and life was good.

But on some days, a purple cloud would roll in, casting a spell of magic and mystery over the village. The air would grow thick with an otherworldly mist, and the sounds of the forest would hush to a whisper.

It was on one such day that a stranger came to the village. He was tall and lean, with piercing blue eyes and a smile that seemed to hold secrets. His hair was long and wild, and he wore a cloak of black that fluttered in the wind.

The villagers eyed him warily, for they did not trust strangers who appeared out of nowhere. But the stranger seemed friendly enough, and he soon won their trust with his easy charm and friendly ways.

He spoke of things they had never heard of – of lands beyond the mountains, of creatures that could speak, and of magic that lay just beyond the reach of mortals.

The children were fascinated by his tales and followed him around like eager puppies. The adults too found themselves drawn to him, for his stories held a strange allure that they could not resist.

As the day wore on, the stranger began to weave his magic around the village. He spoke of a purple cloud that appeared only on days when magic was afoot. He said that those who dared to venture into the cloud would find themselves transported to a world of wonder and enchantment.

The villagers listened with rapt attention, and some even dared to dream of what lay beyond the purple cloud. But the elders warned them against such foolishness, for they believed that the stranger was nothing but a charlatan who spun tall tales to deceive the gullible.

However, the stranger had a surprise up his sleeve. As the sun began to set, he took out a flute from his cloak and began to play a haunting melody. The villagers gathered around him, and as he played, the purple cloud descended over the village, enveloping them in its embrace.

The villagers gasped in wonder as they saw the world around them transform. Trees grew tall and shimmered with iridescent leaves. Birds took on new forms and sang in voices that were both beautiful and eerie. Even the ground beneath their feet seemed to shift and swirl with colors they had never seen before.

The stranger beckoned to them, and they followed him, mesmerized by the magic that surrounded them. He led them through a labyrinth of forests and meadows, showing them wonders that they had never imagined possible.

They saw unicorns with coats of silver, dragons that breathed fire, and mermaids that swam in rivers of diamonds. They walked through fields of lavender that glowed with a soft light, and through forests where the trees whispered secrets in a language that only they could understand.

As the night wore on, the villagers grew tired, and the stranger led them to a clearing where a banquet was laid out. The table was laden with fruits of every color and shape, and the air was filled with the fragrance of exotic flowers.

They feasted and danced under the purple cloud, their hearts full of wonder and joy. For one night, they had forgotten their mundane lives and had been transported to a world of magic and enchantment.

But all good things must come to an end, and as the night gave way to dawn, the stranger bid them farewell. He promised to return someday, but the villagers knew that it was a promise that he may or may not keep.

As the purple cloud lifted, the villagers found themselves back in their mundane world. But their hearts were filled with a new sense of wonder and hope.
