The Alpha And Omega Of All Human Life

And the scientifically proven existence of God

Over recent years, as I have got older, I have found myself wondering, at times far too much, about my own mortality. With many more years behind me than ahead of me, I think that that subject kind of goes with the territory.

This morning, not for the first time, I found myself wondering about what will life be like when I am gone. And then I thought about what it might have been like before I came to this earthly planet. And for some reason, I suddenly had the thought that I have in fact always been here, and I always will be here. With this thought in mind, I decided to do some research. Oh, what a series of rabbit holes that turned out to be.

One of the first things that I discovered is the scientifically proven fact all humans have 99 percent of their DNA in common with everybody else. Yes, there are a great many races amongst us, but a race is not a subspecies. We are all made of the same DNA.

The next question I asked was, can we all trace our DNA lineage all the way back to the very first human beings, which Christianity would have us believe was Adam and Eve?

Adam and Eve painted by Belgium artist Peter Paul Rubens. From Wikipedia.

If we accept for the moment that Adam and Eve were the first of us, which has so far not been proven, nor disproven, can we trace our DNA back to that happy couple? Well, given that all humans share ninety-nine percent of their DNA, and Adam and Eve were human, then yes we can say, with a great deal of certainty, that we are connected.

In this way, we are all the Alpha. And since all future human beings will continue to share the same 99 percent of that DNA, then we are also the Omega of all human life. It is academic whether or not Adam and Eve were the first humans. For the purposes of this argument, it might as well have been Janet and John. Whoever it was, they had virtually the same DNA.

This is not too far removed from my original idea that I have always been here from the very beginning, and I always will be here, right to the very end! I find the latter part of this equation both comforting and scary in equal measure. My ego quite likes the idea that long after I have physically departed this life, I will still have a role to play, all the way to the very end. On the other hand, the prospect of being present, in any form, when the earth disintegrates does not fill me with joy.

Then, the very next rabbit hole I went down was the one I was sent down by the question, does God have DNA? What I found was a very interesting video that makes the claim that DNA proves the existence of God. I was intrigued about that one I can tell you. After watching the video, I have to say I learned a great deal more about DNA than I knew before. And surprisingly, I now believe in God more than I ever did before.

Adam and God by Michael Angelo from Wikipedia

At this point let me point out that I do not see God as some beardy old man in the sky reaching down from a celestial cloud to touch fingertips with Adam. However, I have always said that there is far too much intelligence scattered around the universe for it all to be the random event of some supposed big bang.

A Supernova Explosion in Space from Wikipedia

I have seen big explosive events, such as those arising from a dropped atomic bomb, and I never ever saw any evidence of anything intelligent or beautiful being produced. Death, destruction, stupidity, ugliness, I have seen far too much of that, but nothing of an opposite nature.

In the video, the presenter uses the analogy of a message written in the sand, "Michael is my best friend." Would you presume that to have been written by some sort of intelligent being, or attribute it to the random movement of the waves splashing up on the shoreline? Ergo, DNA code is proof positive of a higher intelligent being, or God if you prefer.

Now I have to say that on the surface at least, science and religion do not appear to make what you might call reciprocally supportive bedfellows. And yet...

So scientists are now claiming DNA as proof positive of the existence of God. And some religious leaders are supporting the idea of there being life on other planets, just as scientists are trying to discover and prove the probability of such.

A Real DNA sample from Wikipedia

DNA consists of four main elements, T, A, G, and C. These four letters stand for Thymine, Adenine, Guanine, and Cytosine. These are the basic ingredients of all DNA. And these four letters are be used in an enormous variety of combinations to write a piece of instructional DNA code.

Think of it like this; binary code consists of just two digits, zeros and ones. And the two digits can be used to write endless pieces of computer code, to operate a computer program. Likewise, T, A, G, and C, can be used to write endless code consisting of up to three billion characters!

As the video explains, perhaps a lot better than I can with my limited resources, the relationship between DNA and Binary codes is a lot closer than you may have thought.

Here is a short string of binary code; 11000101011001.

Here is a short string of DNA code; agagtggctcactcctgaa

They are both sets of instructions, to execute a certain task. Now we know that to be a computer programmer writing code, you have to be quite highly intelligent. Imagine how intelligent you have to be to invent and write DNA code, for the production and operation of human beings! It has to be the work of a higher intelligence far beyond what any human is capable of. And for want of a better word, I and a great many others, choose to use the name God. You may choose some alternative theory or explanation, and if you do, I would be most interested to read about it.
