Paradise Lost
The Dreams of Los Angeles are now Smouldering Ruins - Does Anyone Know Where The Money To Rebuild Will Come From?
The room was still dark when I started to open my eyes to await the dawn. In my mind I could hear someone sobbing. It was a heart wrenching sob, like nothing I'd heard before.
It normally happens when there's a major disaster, but the whole world seems to be in turmoil at the moment, and I couldn't guess the meaning.
Slowly the light crept into the room and as the mirror started to shine with a subtle sheen, I turned on the television to watch the news. I saw images of utter devastation; the City of Los Angeles was an inferno.
All day I kept up with developments as the world watched 'Tinsel-Town' turn to ash and rubble.
My sincere condolences go out to the people of Los Angeles, I am praying for them every day.
What Is Worse, Having Little Money or Losing A Fortune?
Most people are of the opinion, that if a person has made a fortune then they're capable of rebuilding and making another fortune, if disaster strikes ...BUT IS THAT TRUE?
In life we get a few opportunities to be successful, it takes skill to build on that success. Not many people build into their plans the possibility of serious illness or natural disaster. I get so angry with those who block another's progress, or destroy a budding romance out of envy.
Trying to rebuild after losing everything is very hard, I know this from bitter experience. It's even harder when you have a hidden enemy sabotaging your plans as you start to make progress.
Initial estimates that losses are now surpassing a staggering $135 billion, how can any American assume that their insurance company has sufficient funds to settle claims.
The President Jo Biden has stood up and said the Government will support these People. Biden is effectively handing a poisoned challis to Donald Trump and the incoming Government.
The cost of rebuilding will be staggering, so I decided to look at the US Debt clock - its over £36 Trillion. (With an estimated $75,349 for every citizen, that's men, women and children).
Only an idiot would ignore these numbers and continue as normal, in my humble opinion, that is.
For years Robert Kiyosaki, from 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' fame has been urging people to invest in gold, silver and assets, including crypto. How right he's been, perhaps under the new Trump Administration, the USA will recover fairly quickly, but I can't see DT handing billions to Israel or Ukraine.
Oh, what a Mucking Fess!
I dare say that in the weeks and months to come we'll find out if this was a natural disaster or terrorism.
If you, or anyone you know has been affected by these events, my heart goes out to you, and I will continue to pray.
Lloyds of London
I'm sure many of you have heard of Lloyds of London. These are syndicates of wealthy individuals who risk their entire fortune to gamble that they can make money from insurance losses.
In good years, they can make substantial gains, but in bad years ... YES YOU GUESSED IT, THEY CAN LOSE EVERYTHING.
The Landlord, who owned the house next door, admitted to me that he was a Lloyds Name. His syndicate underwrote losses for policy holders in the Cayman Islands. I think it was Hurricane Ivan where he sustained his most devastating losses.
To wriggle out of financial destruction, he effectively made himself a 'Man of Straw'. He transferred all his assets into a trust for his children, and took a rental income. Leaving the trusting policy holder with nothing and not holding up his side of the bargain.
What would you do in the circumstances?
