MONSTER HEATWAVE IN CANADA.
EXTREME HEATWAVE IN CANADA

Hello guys, Normally Canada is considered as one of the coldest country in the world, as we know that temperature of -20°and-30°Celsius is not a great thing in Canada. But in the last few days there is a severe heatwave which caused the temperature to go beyond 49.6°C i.e., almost 50°C, you can expect this temperature in UAE or any of the middle east countries, but now it is also seen in Canada. How did these happen? Let’s try to know in today’s Article.
Specifically referring to the place where this temperature record is broken, there is a state in Canada “British Columbia” located in south-west in which there is a village named ‘LYTTON’. The Latitude of these village is 50° which is similar to the latitude of London. As much as the London is in the north of UK similarly Lytton is also that north in Canada. It is important to know this fact because as we go far away from equator to the north usually it gets colder. Most people in Lytton don’t have air conditioner in their homes.
Although here when the summer arrives it is seen many times that the temperature crosses 40°C, but in winter it can also go beyond -5°to -10°C and there is a record of -31°C temperature in winters.
Now, talking about the damage because of the heatwave, it was so extreme that the power cables were melted. As most of the people don’t have Air Conditioner at their homes, they had gone to the public places for shelter, some people were sleeping inside their car turning on the AC. It was only a matter of few days as because of these heatwaves there was a wildfire in the besides forest and these wildfires destroyed 90% of the village. Experts says that this climate change is a root cause, but technically it was because of a heat dome. A heat dome is formed when summer air becomes trapped under an atmosphere lid.
Michael Mann, a atmospheric science professor says that the frequency of heat wave is increased by 3times as compared to 1960. But the more interesting thing is that this temperature rise is not equal in all areas of earth. In some areas the temperature rise is less in some it is more like Canada.
An international team of 27 climate researchers who are a part of the World Weather Attribution network managed to analyze the info in only eight days. Unsurprisingly, given the fast turnaround, the research has not yet been peer-reviewed. However, the scientists use well-established methods accepted by top journals. They used 21 climate models to estimate what proportion global climate change influenced the warmth experienced within the area round the cities of Seattle, Portland and Vancouver.
They compared the climate because it is today, with the planet because it would be without human-induced warming. "We conclude that a one-in-1000-year event would are a minimum of 150 times rarer within the past," said lead author Sjoukje Philip, from the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute.
To fight against these climate changes, when it comes to solutions, you often seen it in books that if you are not in room turn off your lights, don’t waste electricity, use cycle instead of a car, although this information is correct and should be followed but it is outdated nowadays, because individual action can’t solve climatic changes. Today the condition has become so bad that the policy changes at Government Level can only help solving this out like, removing subsidy on fossil fuel, promoting electric vehicles, imposing carbon tax, shifting to renewable energy, etc.
Every scientist & experts believe that these are the most effective policies to be changed to fight against climate change. We hope that these policies to be introduced soon.
Thank You…
