Legend of Today
The Return of the Night Owl

There was a legend, from a long time ago. When the sun and the moon touched, and the mighty rivers flowed into each other. Time would not be mentioned, except by the movement of the clouds, and the fruit on the trees. The humming bird would sing its tune, so merry and bright, yet swaying from the bees in the dead of night. Coyotes would howl, trying to find their pack, yet the wind chimed to the glory of a smoke stack.
Around a bonfire, the human ancestors sat. Hoot Hoot! Came sweeping by, as the night owl made a cry. Mothers and children, and warriors of the tribe, heard by its roaring cry. The owl is a strong one, a spiritual one in fact, since its eyes can be turned to its back. We are all hunters here, so the night owl shall protect the land we walk on, the water we drink, and the trees that bare fruit. So the spirits of our souls can be as one. Trust of working together, and to respect our ways, for there is only one God, who has placed our protection under his wings.
Protect us from famine, sickness, and ill health, the winged icon will watch over you, and the owl will sleep. He is easily awakened by a howl at the moon, never closing his eyes, yet intuitively sees his surroundings. We praise the night owl as our brotheren, a spirit of our tribe. Men have come here, from other sorts, and took our people by storm. Our mothers, daughters, and sons, by invisable forces we call disease, and by that of calvary. The owl has flown away and we went into hiding. Raiding the land, which we once knew, and plumaging the Earth with fossil fuels, waste, and chemical exposures.
Killing the grasses, warming the oceans, and leaching pollutants into our once clean air. Our once strong bodies are now disease prone, our fish are now farm raised, and our lands are fruitless deserts. We used to listen to the land, our spiritual core, and lived with the Earth as a whole, and not against it. Loving what we had in time and space, with a connection to every living soul.
The world is our resting place. A place for ideal visual idealization. We need it just as much as it needs us. We work in harmony together as one. We are all here to carry out our selective virtues of love, trust, strength, and togetherness. We are not meant to be alone in this vast wilderness. We fall apart out of loneliness, jealousy, rage, and uncertainty. When life is unbalanced, and there is lack of love from the heart, we not only loose, but our environmental surroundings do as well. By studying the past traditions our ancestors had, we can secure our future existance. The owl is a significant spiritual creature. Look again, and again, when the Earth was healthy, life was balanced and everyone did their job to keep it that way. Humans, animals, fish, the sun, the moon, and the trees.
Now our time is upon us, looking at the damage we have done. Its time to repair it one by one. Cleaning up the land, the Earth, and the sky. So that we may enjoy a piece of the pie. The farmers have seen droughts, and heavy rains. It is up to us, to relieve the pain. Respect the animals on this farm, that we call life, and look up into the bannisters of this barn, count your blessings, and know in your heart that the night owl has finally returned.
