Amazon river
The origin of the world's largest river by volume is difficult to determine. Researchers and scientists have been debating since the mid-16th century about where the Amazon originated, but there are fewer than five rivers in southwestern Peru, and no one can provide a direct location every year. Body flow is complex and dynamic, and access to the Mississippi is at the center of the issue.

Antarctic ocean
Antarctic flows and twists normally stream unreservedly through Antarctica on the east-east side and go about as a boundary between warm air and northern waters. Conversely, the Atlantic Icy locale is available to warm waters from the south, similarly as the seas are streaming. This warm water enters the Icy and forestalls the development of ocean ice in the locale.

The Sharks of the Galápagos
The funny thing about getting off the airplane on the Galápagos Islands, is that it looks like you accidentally landed on Mars, not one of the most pristine marine ecosystems in the world. Everything is painted with orange and dust, and even the cacti look somewhat confused as to how they ended up here.

The Last Pear Tree
"A tree truly does give life," Camilla asserted to herself, as she walked toward the lone pear tree near the edge of their mountain compound. Her sandals crunched on the dry soil, to the beat of the groans from her shrunken stomach. A buzzard soared in a wide circle above her, waiting patiently for dying prey. Camilla shaded her eyes with her hands and looked up, "Vultures and buzzards are the only creatures to thrive, during this world-wide drought."

Scratch
The scratching found me at the strangest times. It was like a broken record player that would occasionally switch on, blaring out a snippet of some forgotten song before falling silent again. Every time I would get comfortable, every time I would forget that grating sound, there it would be, like a discordant note or a hand from the grave.

Shark Fin Soup
Walking past the shops of one of Hong Kong’s largest fish markets, Steve was on the lookout for an expensive culinary ingredient; shark fin. He thought back to the countless wedding banquets where shark fin soup was a delicacy and a must-have for pleasing wedding guests. It is this huge demand for shark fin that drives the shark hunting industry, where the monstrous fish are caught, amputated of their fins and thrown overboard to die. But as the world economy started being more socially responsible in harvesting sea life, there were calls to stop the shark hunting industry to protect the affected species from extinction. That was when Steve saw a unique opportunity to satisfy the huge demand for shark fin, while decreasing the number of sharks killed by hunters. He decided to make an artificial shark fin substitute that would look, smell and taste just like the regular shark fin, but produced in a much more ecologically responsible way. And so, he was at the fish market, looking for a sample of real shark fin to analyze and begin to develop a suitable substitute.

Kyle's Fish
The thick body of the fish glided along the sandy bottom of the shallow sea, its mouth held open in a foreboding grin. The water was murky, but the creature rarely relied on sight; its nose picked up every organic molecule within the length of a football field, and a lateral line of sensory organs felt the minute electrical impulses of every living thing in the vicinity. The great fish saw only a cloudy green emptiness and the dull tawny sand of the sea floor, but understood perfectly on some primitive, instinctual level its role as the ecosystem’s apex predator.
