Greenhouse gases are gases that trap heat in the atmosphere, and their increased concentration is causing the temperature to rise. The main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming is carbon dioxide (CO2). CO2 is produced when we burn fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. The burning of these fuels releases large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, and as a result, the concentration of CO2 has been increasing over the years. The increase in CO2 has caused the average temperature of the planet to rise, and this is what we call global warming.
