His dog is lost by the airline, which offers him... 1,800 dollars to show “sympathy”
In the United States, an airline, which lost a woman's dog in an airport, offered her around 1,700 euros to show “sympathy”.
The day of August 18 turned into a nightmare for Paula Rodriguez, a young woman from Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic.
As detailed by the Daily Mail, the latter had booked a flight to San Francisco with her dog Maia to spend two weeks of vacation in this city located in California (United States).
During her layover at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Paula discovers that her tourist visa is invalid and that she must spend the night in a detention center before returning to the Dominican Republic the next morning .
The problem? She was not allowed to keep her pet with her. Faced with this situation, the American airline Delta Air Lines promises to monitor Maia while waiting for her return flight.
But the next day, Paula learned that the company had lost its dog. However, the young woman was forced to board the plane without her because she was not allowed to stay at the airport due to American regulations.
Airline offers money to fix problem
Back home, the owner of the dog rushed to file a complaint because the animal could not be found. But that's not all ! Compensation claims were then filed with Atlanta and San Francisco airports.
Also according to the Daily Mail, Delta staff went to local shelters to try to find the dog, without success.

“She has been missing for over 72 hours in the largest airport in the United States,” Paula told Atlanta News First television station at the time.
For its part, the airline contacted the young woman and offered her the sum of 1,800 dollars (around 1,700 euros). A gesture that Paula’s lawyer described as “an insult”.
In a statement, the company said the money was not “an offer of compensation” and claimed it had “shown sympathy through its many actions and gestures towards its client.”
till now the dog still cannot be found.
