"Cleaner Production and ISO-14000"

Cleaner Production

Cleaner production is a preventive integrated and continuous strategy that is used for the modification of products, processes and services. It is used to enhance the efficiency of the system which improves environmental performance along with its cost. It reduces the risk of environmental pollution and conserves energy.

A)-Implementation of Cleaner Production

Proper implementation of cleaner production always helps to reduce long term responsibilities which are faced by different companies after pollution generation. Proper implementation usually helps to

• Increase profit

• It enhances the productivity of products

• Lowers the rate of production cost

• Helps to increase the product yield

• It leads to the improved and efficient mode of energy usage along with raw material

• Reduces the consumer risk

• And improved product quality

B)-Process Integrated Solutions

Another way to reduce pollution is to change the process that simple add the pollutants to the environment. We change the technology or the raw material that is used in the process. It is a basic concept of process integrated management. With the help of change we may achieve our goal to reduce air pollutants.

Example:

For instance we change the technology that is used for bleaching process of paper pulp. The untreated process adds a large number of chlorinated compounds direct to the water bodies. These toxic compounds block the gills of fish and cause them to death. Therefore, we change the bleaching technology; we use hydrogen peroxide compounds instead of chlorinated ones. These compounds have limited life span for chemical reactions and cause no harm to marine life.

C)-Environmental Improvements

Cleaner production has direct relation with the development and dramatic change in the performance of the technologies. It also helps to reduce environmental pollution. It reduces the dominating problems like emission of toxic compounds, chlorinated compounds and disposal of waste. These are the synthetic efforts for the improvement of environmental impacts and economic performance. Some are traditional methods to treat pollutants, particularly the metals. Metals had to be renewed but it requires a large amount of water.

2-Least Learning Part of Course Content

2.1-ISO-14000

It is a voluntary Environmental Management System that is the part of well-planned business organizations. It includes several important steps that are in continuous process for the improvement of the organizations footprint.

A)-Main Points

ISO-14000 contains some basic standards and has a Plan-Do-Check-Act policies and strategies. These policies and strategies are as follow;

• Plan: It is a process of producing new confirmed policies and ensures their proper implementation.

• Do: The process of implementing major objectives specified in the plan.

• Check: Evaluation of the results and progress capacity

• Act: Working on the improvement of the management system.

B)-Organizations Oriented Standards

A well-structured system like Environmental Management System allows all other organizations to deal actively with the environmental problems. ISO-14000 provides ample opportunities to organizations in which they work on their skills and achieved high standards of environmental performance. It received lots of attention internationally, and widely spread within no time.

C)-Reason of Least learning Content

Due to pandemic issues we are unable to attend our classes properly. The academic work all shift to online which contributes less than the expected information. We are unable to get proper information on this topic. But besides all of this we try our best to learn the topics from our managed sources.

3-Conclusion

In this section we discuss some aspects of solid waste and wastewater management system. As we all know, these are the rising problem of every country, so in the whole study durations, we focus on its problems and related solutions. Environmental chemistry provides a platform to students to present their ideas and work on them for the betterment of their environment. World demands new technologies that are economical and eco-friendly. International organizations develop certain rules and regulations and forced the national authorizes to implement them on local levels. When we clearly understand the problem then we, it would become easy to deal with proper management and policies regulations.

If we talk about the Environment Management System, we go through all sources of information to get proper knowledge about the related topics. During this course study, some topics are understandable and it is an easy task to tackle with them, but still we have some drawbacks. We just checked the theoretical part of the work without any exposure to any practical example. I thought some practical examples might clear our concepts than the theory part.
