Advanced civilization of 1 billion years level

Earth's luck is good

By Robert JackPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

The scientific community generally believes that the universe was born about 13.8 billion years ago, and according to scientists' estimates, rocky planets were already prevalent in the universe about 10 billion years ago. As we all know, the Earth is a rocky planet, but the Earth is lucky to have a series of natural conditions favorable to life, because of this, life on the Earth can live and eventually evolve into human civilization.

In the vast universe, there are countless "lucky planets" like the Earth, and considering that the Earth is only about 4.55 billion years old, we can even make reasonable speculation: billions of years before the birth of the Earth, there were already a large number of planets suitable for life in the universe, and some of them Like the Earth, life was also bred, and step by step evolved an intelligent civilization.

For us humans, if some of these intelligent civilizations still existed in the universe now, they would probably have developed into advanced civilizations much more advanced than humans. In other words, in the present universe, the existence of a billion years level of an advanced civilization is not impossible.

Then the question arises, if there is a billion-year-old advanced civilization in the universe, how terrible would it be?

The scientific community does not deny the existence of advanced civilizations, to better describe the possible existence of intelligent civilizations in the universe, scientists have also proposed the concept of "civilization index", the value of which can be calculated by "K = (logo - 6)/10" to The value can be calculated by "K = (logo - 6)/10", where "LG" refers to the logarithm of 10 and "P" indicates the power of civilization.

As you can see, the civilization index is based on the amount of energy consumed per unit of time as a standard, which is relatively reasonable, after all, from the development of our human civilization, the higher the level of technology, the more energy is consumed.

We often hear the three cosmic civilization level is divided by this, that is, the first civilization, two civilizations, and three civilizations corresponding to the "cosmic civilization index" are 1, 2, and 3, a simple calculation shows that the power of 10^16W, 10^26W, 10^36W.

The current power of human civilization is about 2 x 10^13W, and the civilization index is only 0.73. Despite this, many researchers are optimistic that if the power of human beings is calculated according to the growth rate of one thousandth per year, it will only take more than 50,000 years for human beings to enter the third level of civilization, and even including the time needed for human civilization to break through the bottleneck, this time will not exceed 1 million years.

To be conservative, we may multiply this time by 10, that is, after 10 million years, human civilization should enter the third level of civilization, so what will happen if human civilization develops for 1 billion years? The author believes that, again, there should be no problem to enter the fourth level of civilization.

If human civilization is like this, other intelligent civilizations in the universe should also be like this, so if there are a billion years of high-level civilization in the universe, then their civilization level should be four, or even higher.

Through the "civilization index" formula mentioned earlier, we can conclude that the power of a level 4 civilization is 10^46W, what is this concept? Let's say that the power of the sun is about 3.8 x 10^26W, which means that the power of a level 4 civilization is about 263.2 billion times that of the sun.

Perhaps they have already understood the underlying mechanism of the universe, and may even directly modify the rules of physics, and therefore developed FTL flight, space leap, mass-energy arbitrary conversion, extraction of vacuum zero-point energy, and other cool technology, as long as they want, they can create or destroy a galaxy at any time.

So the question is, if there is really such a terrifyingly powerful advanced civilization in the universe, then why we have not found any trace of them?

Perhaps we can think that their activities are far beyond the universe we can see, that is, the observable universe, and may even break the limits of three-dimensional space, and even if they have left traces in the observable universe, it will be too large and difficult to link them with advanced civilizations.

For example, we know that the universe is in a state of continuous expansion, which causes distant galaxies to move away from us, a movement is also known as the "Hubble flow", and for galaxies in the universe, in addition to the effect of the "Hubble flow", they For galaxies in the universe, in addition to the effect of the Hubble flow, they also have their motion, which we can call "intrinsic motion".

In theory, each galaxy in the universe has its own "motions", so if we look at a large number of galaxies, their "motions" should be chaotic, but this is not the case.

However, this is not the case, because scientists have found that in a region of the observable universe spanning about 3 billion light-years, the "motions" of almost all galaxies point to the same location between the constellations Centaurus and Sail.

Simply put, if there were no cosmic expansion, these galaxies would all be moving in the same direction, as if some powerful force had coalesced a large number of galaxies into a continuously flowing river, hence the name "cosmic undercurrents.

According to our knowledge of the universe, no force can cause such a large-scale phenomenon in the observable universe, so the "cosmic undercurrent" has become a mystery.

Imagine if there is a billion-year-old advanced civilization in the universe, could the "cosmic undercurrents" be their work? We can not rule out this possibility. Of course, this can only be considered speculation, so we look at it, and do not have to take it seriously.
