Why do humans crave love

Human nature is like fog

By watch seePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Because humans are greedy and lonely.

We yearn for something that can transcend the bonds of blood, the prejudice of skin color, the differences of nations, the chasm of wealth, and the constraints of social norms.

We long for someone who, even knowing you are foolish, frivolous, empty-headed, selfish, and mediocre, still loves you.

We long for someone who loves what you love, thinks what you think, asks nothing in return, exhausts themselves for your sake, and shares in your joys and sorrows.

We long for someone who understands your soul, who grasps the meaning of your existence, who steps into your world to see, who brings you a light to warm your heart.

We long for someone who will bear your hopes and become the pillar of your emotions.

And you would do the same for them.

I once read somewhere: human loneliness is like an inborn disability.

No one can truly rescue you from your loneliness, but having someone by your side does make it a bit easier to bear.

Like the blind and the lame, supporting each other as they stumble through life.

And so, countless “you” and “I,” intoxicated by fantasies, believe that love can conquer those deep-seated worldly expectations.

But the truth is, most “love” merely exposes, bit by bit, all the absurdities, pains, and conflicts of life, revealing to us that love either doesn’t exist at all or is fleeting and fragile, easily shattered.

Yet, there’s something almost endearing about human greed.

When it comes to love, we’re born gamblers.

Who’s to say that this lottery of life won’t favor us?

Might as well take a chance, just one.

After all, we all have to die eventually, so why not indulge while we can?
