Savior?
Memories of an old Russian Short Story
By Dinesha PereraPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

I can imagine the rough heavily built man
Silent and menacing look
Entering
Getting the attention of a few diners
The annoyed and displeased looks of the other diners
who were timid to speak
About the most unsocial action of feeding a dog
From the plate that used to feed HUMAN
Their angry looks and heard assaulting words to the timid
caretaker of the dinning house
Finally,
The sinking puppy in the cold river Volga
Unsuspecting her FEEDER
The STRANGE drops of tears to the dry cavities of the eys of the
Stranger.
( I penned this short verse after remembering a short story of old Soviet literature , and I think Tolstoy in the write of this short story)
