Forrest Gump review

forrest gump (1994):one of my favorite movies

Personally, Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies, not only because of how moving it is, but because of the beautiful message it leaves. It's one of those stories that seems simple, but ends up moving anyone.

For those who haven't seen it, Forrest Gump tells the story of a boy who suffers from scoliosis and must wear leg braces to walk. From a young age, everyone makes fun of him and discriminates against him, but everything changes one day when some children chase him, and while trying to escape, he discovers he has a natural talent for running. That moment, when he breaks free from his braces and runs without looking back.

Throughout the film, we see how Forrest, wonderfully played by Tom Hanks, experiences different stages of American history without even intending to: he goes to the Vietnam War, becomes a national hero, triumphs at ping-pong, and even manages to own a shrimp company, runs cross-country, and yet always maintains his humility. Everything he does, he does with a unique innocence and kindness. While the world around him changes, he remains the same, faithful to his heart and to the love of his life, Jenny.

The most beautiful thing about this film is that it shows that you don't have to be a genius to make your mark. Forrest doesn't seek fame or recognition; he simply acts with honesty and kindness, and that takes him further than many others. His story reminds us that life, with all its complications, always has something good to offer if you look at it with hope.

Also worth highlighting is Robert Zemeckis's directorial work, who manages to blend the story of a fictional character with real historical events in an incredibly natural way. The visual effects, ahead of their time, allowed Forrest to appear alongside figures like John Lennon and President Kennedy, and that made the film feel even more magical.

I know some people disagree with the fact that Forrest Gump won the 1995 Oscar for Best Picture instead of Pulp Fiction. Both are great films, but I think Forrest Gump has something that makes it unique: its ability to move, to touch the heart, and to remind us that everyone, regardless of their limitations, can leave a mark. Of course, I'm speaking from my personal perspective, because professionally I have a different opinion.

The ending is one of the most beautiful and sad at the same time, and I think no one will forget the phrase that forever marked cinema: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." That line perfectly sums up the film's message: life is unpredictable, but it's always worth living.

Forrest Gump is a classic that will never go out of style. It's a story that combines humor, drama, romance, and reflection in a single film. And beyond the awards or the debates, its true value lies in the way it connects with the audience.

It's a film I recommend to everyone, a work that teaches us to move forward no matter the obstacles.
