Capabilities of Ghosts

Reading ghost stories, I always have questions about how far the capabilities of ghosts can actually go. In reading books and short stories about ghosts, there are usually about three options for how far their reach expands:

1. Some stories they have to reach to the real world and just observe.

2. They have some reach if they put their transparent minds to their task enough.

3. They can go as far as picking up objects or still having access to their internet profiles.

Ghosts reaching a range as far as they could pick up objects and throw knifes would make them capable of hurting others, and that seems like too far of a capability for them to access. I have read murder mysteries with ghosts who had a capability this far and the question of if a ghost murdered someone was never a question asked within the story. It was as if the ghosts had better morals in the afterlife than humans in order to explain away that possibility without having to also investigate the ghost world or explain to others in the story that didn't believe in ghosts. Would seem pretty wild not to believe in ghosts though if they really could go as far as throwing objects around at any given moment.

I can see the capability of a ghost being able to tell someone who has access to them what their social media passwords are and what to add/post to their profiles in order to mess with people, but not that they themselves could come to posting more. Ghosts being able to observe the world and speak to those who have access to them for information I believe is more in line with their true capabilities. Maybe a few small influences around, but the whole point of ghostly spirits is that they are existing in a completely different realm from us and wouldn't be able to log into the computer or move your belongings about.

The only way for the reach to become far enough is if the spirit pushed into a possession. Most people usually believe possession is only a negative issue with terrible spirits in horror movies wreaking havoc, but I do believe a spirit can possess someone under a positive influence. I wish there were more positive supernatural stories in the world such as the Netflix show: The Sandman. Spirits and ghosts can have motivation other than just nefarious actions; they can be helpful during the possession. The better ghosts would not fully take over your autonomy completely while they were possessing you. They would let you still have the reins in the decisions while guiding.

Good spirits possession is not seen as much as the bad in this manner, because you can not tell quite as harshly about the change within the person. the change is probably just slight and more positive. It is not an extreme change where the person's whole self is gone and swallowed up inside the control of the terrible spirit. The positive possession is amplifying the person's good traits and doing their best to make sure they remain safe within those bounds. They motivate, protect, and bring out the person's inner true self while combining the wisdom of someone who has already lived a full life.

This is why the bad spirits may sometimes present themselves to you in the image and voice as one of your ancestors, but there will be something about them that feels off or isn't presenting correctly about who they should be. Your actual relatives and old friends coming to you would be a helpful guide, but there are tricksters to look out for to not let in. Only let in the spirits that won't try to take complete control over your everyday life decisions.
