Take the lesson of the maple tree; the Earth provides, but we must meet her half way. There is responsibility in nature's gifts, and all living beings must take part in that cycle.
Without the hard work and gratitude, sap cannot become syrup. Our hands and choices are powerful together.

I am a graduate student studying anthropology and have been writing creatively for almost 20 years. I love new takes on alternative history, especially when there are fantasy or supernatural elements included.

This was brilliant
Your beautiful prose does justice to the eloquent writing found in Braiding Sweetgrass. Glad to find another writer here on Vocal who loves this book.
