To My Wife, My Love

A Love Story

By SunflowerPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

"It was morning still -- the air was crisp, the sun was low and the bees were already busy. Neighbors were mowing their lawns and kids were saddling up in buses. It was the kind of morning you just took in, of course, I didn't expect to find $20,000 " she began rushing her words.

"I understand Ms. Kim, just continue with your statement."

"Anyway, as the bus turned the corner I thought to myself, I should get out today, I hadn't left my house since the wedding. But this day, it just led me out."

"So tell me," Officer Cane interjected, "what made you leave this day?"

"I don't know" Ms. Kim questioned herself. "I just ran inside, grabbed my keys and I jetted to my car. I got in and in my front seat was my little black book."

It was the only wedding gift from him. My mother carried it in, along with the news and on the inside front cover, he had already inscribed "To My Wife, My Love"

"I grabbed the book, placed it inside my satchel and took off."

"When I made it to BlueStone it was around noon. The park was completely empty! So, as the kid in me would, I ran to the swings and began swinging, then the slides and rested in the grass. As, I started to roll down the hill, I noticed a glittery bag hanging from a branch with a balloon and note attached, so of course, I went to check it out."

"The note read, 'To My Wife, My Love' and as tears began rolling down my face, I opened the bag and then I collapsed, and when I woke up you were there."

Officer Cane rested back in his seat, silent, in thought.

"I'll be right back" Officer Cane left the room.

As Ms. Kim relaxed and stared out to the window, she spotted a klan of balloons coming her way with a ribbon stating, "To My Wife, My Love," As she started her feet to run, there in the doorway was her fiancé, holding that same balloon and bag, he dropped to he knees and in walked Officer Cane.

"Your husband was on assignment " Officer Cane stated as he slammed the file down- "Ms. Kim and apparently he don't tell you much about the kind of work he do cause, well-

and Daniel stood, and exclaimed "I am with the FBI Secret Task Force"

"Yeah, and he almost blew cover by reaching out to you." Officer Cane proceeded

"He sedated you last night while you were eating dinner, and carried you to your bed. He had been watching you since he left you in that dress. You hadn't slept in weeks! Which would explain your lovely morning"

"It was only cough syrup," Daniel pleaded, "You hadn't rested, I, just, I-"

Ms. Kim threw her arms out from each side, "Wait!" she yelled, falling down to her knees grabbing Daniel's face looking him in his eyes.

"You.. you, you're a Secret Agent," - she studdered "

He dropped his head in shame.

"I, don't know what to think, I need a moment" Ms. Kim grabbed the balloon, along with the note and the bag and started home.

She began replaying the last couple of weeks, noting every sign of him following her, trying to get her attention.

She sat on the edge of her bed in thought and then remembered the bag held twenty thousand dollars, so she rushed back to Officer Cane and her husband, but they had already left.

Ms. Kim was drained, so she headed back home. As she arrived, there on her doorstep was another note, another ballon, and another satchel. She grabbed it all heading inside, she sat on the edge of her bed, reading the note,

'To My Wife, My Love, if you will take my hand, have and hold me, then I need you to take this $20,000 and book a flight to San Reacho in the Cannon Islands, in the other bag is a passport, wigs, glasses, and burner phones. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR GLASSES. They block you from being traced. There in the black book is the slide key you will need to pass through the tunnel. Once you make it , press 1 on the black phone then smash it. I love you'

Ms. Kim looked around, paused and then raced to her car the same way she did that morning.

Heading to the Cannon Islands, gazing out the window, holding her little black book, and her bag, the words "To My Wife, My Love" charted across the sky. She smiled.

The End.
