The Tragic Case of Brandi Worley
A Story of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a serious problem in our society, affecting people of all races, genders, and social classes. Unfortunately, many cases of domestic violence go unreported, and victims suffer in silence. One such case is that of Brandi Worley, a mother from Indiana who killed her two young children in a fit of rage. This tragic story is a reminder of the devastating effects of domestic violence and the urgent need for awareness and prevention.
Who is Brandi Worley?
Brandi Worley was a 30-year-old mother of two from Darlington, Indiana. She was married to Jason Worley, a software engineer, and they had two children, Tyler and Charlee, aged 7 and 3. The family lived in a spacious house in a quiet rural area, and by all appearances, they seemed like a happy family.
The Tragic Event
On November 17, 2016, Brandi Worley called 911 and told the dispatcher that she had killed her two children. When the police arrived at the scene, they found Tyler and Charlee dead in their beds, with multiple stab wounds. Brandi Worley was found in the living room with self-inflicted stab wounds to her neck and wrists.
The Background
According to court documents, Brandi Worley and Jason Worley had a troubled marriage that was marked by frequent arguments and instances of domestic violence. Jason Worley had filed for divorce in March 2016, but the couple had reconciled shortly after. However, their relationship remained strained, and they continued to argue over custody and financial issues.
The Investigation
During the investigation, police found a note in the master bedroom that read, "I can't take this anymore. The kids deserve better. They deserve to be with Jason." The note was signed "Brandi." In addition, neighbors reported hearing arguments and screaming coming from the Worley's house on the night of the murders.
The Trial
Brandi Worley was charged with two counts of murder and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her defense team argued that she was suffering from severe depression and post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the domestic violence she had experienced. I don’t think you understand Matt, she is the abuser.
I'm not really sure that one should come away from the story believing with them main theme of this case is what domestic violence can do. It's undoubtedly a serious thing on a tragedy in every case and without question was a factor in this case but it's almost as though the writer is leaving no responsibility for the woman that killed two children. Not to mention the fact that obviously the jury didn't see that as truly mitigating or she wouldn't have gotten what essentially amount to a double life sentence. There are cold blooded killers to get less time for a double murder.
