THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY
I woke up with a startle, bright-eyed and bushy tailed. I loved mornings. My parents always said I was a very active child as I could already crawl at five months.
My name is Simon, a 17 year old on his way to fulfilling his destiny. After having my bath, I marched to my brothers room and shook him awake.
“Get out” he yelled.
I snickered as I went to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
I had been living with my brother ever since my parents died in a plane crash some years back and things haven’t been going so well for us. Apart from both of us having to drop out of school and my brother working 5 jobs, I would say we were okay. But that would be a lie now, wouldn’t it?
“I’m off to work.” Kyle grumbled.
“I packed you breakfast.”
“Thanks, see you later.”
I dressed up and locked up the house. I had my own business to take care of. I worked with my best friend, Ryan. His dad worked in a club downtown and it was pretty enjoyable working there.
I banged on the back door and Ryan opened up for me.
“I’m here for my cut.” I announced.
“ Hey Simon, I have an idea I want to pitch to you and I need your help for this to work.” Ryan explained as he counted my money.
“I like where this is going.” I said chuckling. I’ve always been an adrenaline junkie.
“My dad is going to train us on how to really join in the business but we have to do something first”
“Which is?” I said nodding.
“We’re going to steal drugs”
I blinked trying to process what he said. Now I was going to be an actual junkie?
“Don’t freak out but my dad gets his drugs sold here by stealing them.” Ryan continued.
“Ok, when do we leave?” I said excitedly.
“What? You’re agreeing just like that?” He said in shock.
“Come on, you’ll explain the plan in the car.” I said as I pulled him towards the back door.
This was going to be fun.
———————————————
We arrived at the city’s docks where ships and crates were everywhere.
“So do you understand the plan?” Ryan asked again.
“Sure. Go into that red crate over there, slit a hole in one of the packages, pack the drugs into the duffel bag and run for it.” I said enthusiastically as my blood was already pumping to get started.
“Ok I’ll be the lookout but be quick.” Ryan said.
I ran towards the red crate, duffel bag in hand. It was already night time so it was easier for me to sneak past the people around.
I open the doors of the crate and slit a hole into one of the brown packages stored there. Bags of white power poured out and I started stuffing the bag. When I had packed enough I ran out and spotted Ryan behind some cargo, running towards him.
“You got it?” He asked.
I nodded and passed the duffel bag to him.
“Thanks mate. Sorry but this is nothing personal.” He said as he pulled out a gun and aimed it at my head.
The next thing I knew, blinding hot white pain zapped through my whole body. At least now Kyle would have enough money to take care of himself and maybe even finish college.
I thought of my parents as my eyes started feeling too heavy to open and then I fell into darkness thinking to myself: “Best day ever!”
