Reason First: Autopsy Confirms Cop Shot Rapper 17 Times In The Back, Family Calls For Arrest

What will happen to B Green’s legacy?

This whole business about undercover cops shooting anyone in the back is heinous. It just triggers something else when it is a black rapper who received seventeen shots to the back.

Rapper Linton “B Green” Blackwell is taking a dirt nap now because of a trigger happy copper. The family is calling for arrest, but will they gain what they want?

Here’s how the scene allegedly played out. The police officer in an Atlanta Police shirt noticed B Green returned from a car with something in his hand to re-enter the club. A firearm was found at the scene but it has not been attributed to anyone.

Who was B Green?

As an associate of the Duct Tape Entertainment imprint, he fit in with other rappers like Alley Boy, Big Bank Black, and Trouble. His acceptance in the streets didn’t extend as far as the Atlanta rap world but he garnered respect nevertheless.

What did the medical examiner have to say?

The ME explained that B. Green sustained the seventeen shots which took his life. All of this came from the Fulton County office that processes cases just like this one. 11Alive covered the story and reported from the mouth of the medical examiner.

B Green’s manager said what about the shooting?

He couldn’t understand how the cop who was serving duty as the club’s security could fire so many shots. Timothy Coleman stayed in utter shock at the loss of his friend and artist.

What is supposed to happen now?

Stricter measures ought to be placed for cops not in their uniforms but t-shirts showing their actions. Instead of pouring hot lead into people, they should protect and defend individual rights.

That’s the reason why there’s such animosity towards those in blue. When events like this crop up, it makes it all the more hard to say the man or woman in blue is a friend to you.

Though the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling this situation, it is difficult to say whether this case will be carried out with justice.

B Green may not have been a major mulit-platinum-selling artist but he was a human being. Even if he had a weapon, should he have been shot seventeen times in the back?

The center of this ordeal is of course politics. Not just the phrase bandied about but the philosophical branch which deals with how to deal with and engage in transactions of values.

The way that all of these components to the case have come together and the medical examiner’s report and the words by B Green’s associate William Stanley show something all the more problematic for the cop.

Stanley claims that Officer Gerald Walker had already approached the door and conducted searches of club-goers.

This all boils down to a significant decrease and reason and respect for the individual. Police are obviously a vital part of society. When something happens and an officer is mired in controversy, is there even real controversy when you consider the fact that not one shot went through the B Green’s front.

It is time to realize that rationality must take precedence over all human interactions. If B Green is the latest man of color to be gunned down by police in Atlanta, then this whole incident should give all parties pause.

If Walker is not arrested, just be aware that there will be demonstrations in the streets. A call to Benjamin Crump may even be placed.

There might be picketing and a full on press in getting Walker in handcuffs.

Even if that never happens, the chances for B Green to have his name next to justice will forever be embedded in the facts.
