Not long after the arrest of Travis Deniro (AKA: the infamous Taxi Smuggler) in 2018, the Italian American Mafia known as the Samaris Family began to suspect that there was a rat among their ranks. They had no idea Travis only got caught because the police were already suspicious of him to begin with, they believed somebody inside the family had ratted them out to the NYPD. The father of this crime family, that being Tommy Samaris had already begun writing a list of likely suspects that may have betrayed his gang:
There was Frodo Clemens, who was a lifelong friend of his third son, that being the youngest of the brothers Vinny Samaris, who had met Frodo in school and slowly introduced him to his family and the criminal underworld. Even at 28, Frodo always seemed hesitant and a little bit frightened by the whole crime world his best friend was involved in. Tommy didn't want to believe a boy he treated like his own son could possibly be the rat who disgraced them all, but the crimelord certainly had his suspicions.
Another suspect was Willy Adams, a relatively new member of the gang who was an outsider from Ireland. He smuggled drugs into the city with his tugboat, much like Travis. Willy was a good laugh, always making everyone joyful. He had a wicked and dirty sense of humour, one that the Mafia members seemed to love (except for the women, who found his comedy perverted and gross). Again, Willy was like Frodo in a way, although he was ginger and in his forties, Willy was also well liked by Tommy and he really didn't want to point blame on the lovable Irishman so soon.
Unlike Willy and Frodo however was Tony Bravolo, who was mostly despised within the gang. You see, Tony had been a member almost as long as Tommy himself, being one of the closest gangsters without having any direct relations with the Samaris Family name. He was like a brother to Tommy, although a very arrogant and jealous one, always trying to take charge and oftentimes he did. As much as Tommy hated Tony, it seemed highly unlikely he'd jeopardise everything out of mere spite. So Tommy continued his list.
Lastly there was Barbara Garcia, the wife of his first son, Luigi Samaris. The reason Tommy suspected her was because she often tried to steer Luigi away from his life of crime, begging him to become a banker or doctor instead, since he was also the smartest son and could easily educate himself enough to earn a good degree or two. Of course Luigi was always loyal to his father and the mafia, Barbara had been living on the edge of her seat since they first got together back in 2005, which was 13 years ago and in recent years she had become more comfortable with her husband's life choices. Tommy scribbled her name off the list eventually, if she was going to rat them out, Barbara would've done it a decade ago. She, just like Frodo, was like a daughter to him too. Tommy felt sick and guilty even imagining her being the rat. By that point his suspect list had become desperate and forced, like a kid writing down Christmas presents he doesn't really want, just to pad out his letter to Santa.
Tommy's suspect list was complete. He kept his suspicions a secret for the time being, instead hiding the note in his blazer pocket. Eventually he began silently inspecting his suspects without their knowledge, spying on his own gang, he even tailed them all home, to work and everywhere in-between. Tommy had a boat follow Willy's journeys across the seas. They returned showing photos of Willy being friendly with local police back in Ireland, it could've been to keep his drug smuggling a secret, hiding in plain sight. There weren't any photos of talking to any New York police however. Although Tommy still found this revelation incredibly alarming! Tony Bravolo kept acting like a dick, but he got shit done and even shot a few rival gangsters during Tommy's secret inspections. The jealous surrogate brother was solid, there were no way he was the rat. It was Vinny Samaris himself that convinced his father to leave Frodo alone, he promised that his best friend had nothing to do with Travis Deniro's arrest and he even showed his dad photos of Frodo on holiday to Miami during the day the Taxi Smuggler got arrested. Tommy believed his son in the end, which only left one remaining suspect, Willy Adams.
One night, when Willy was asleep in his tugboat, docked at a small New York harbour, petrol bombs were thrown through his boat's glass windows. Willy awoke in a fright! Fire was flaring up from the smashed glass bottles that were broken Molotovs. He climbed to the top floor of the boat where the wheel house was and climbed out onto the surface with only a few minor burns on his arms and legs.
"What's the meaning of this, aye lads?!" He cried out to the huge gang of Samaris Mafia, who kept throwing Molotovs at him.
"I'm not a rat!" He screamed, as glass smashed his face, exploding into a hideous blaze of yellow fire! He screamed and screamed, falling into the water, he swam to the surface looking like a zombie with his hideously burnt face and melting flesh.
"Kill him!" Tommy ordered Tony, who finished Willy off with a revolver shot to the head.
"Willy sleeps with the fishes!" Tony Bravolo spat in the water where Willy's corpse sank to the bottom, never to be seen again.
