CHAPTER EIGHT
“I think he knows, he blocked my number last night”, said the man’s cold voice sheepishly.
It has been more than two months since Alfred Revendil had meet this man and he had never failed to disappoint him. Revendil didn’t bother in hiding the fury from his voice, “You think? It was your responsibility to eliminate those two. And, what did you do, you SEND THEM AFTER EACH OTHER. How in the world did you imagine that those 2 wouldn’t meet and gang up against us?”
“I am sorry, I will make it the end for those two this time and now since they are together, it will be easy,” said Mr. Samerio, the annoyance evident in his voice.
“NO! You have proved yourself as inept for this mission. I, on the other hand, have somebody perfect for this waiting for them in Russia.”
*
They landed on Pushkin International Airport the next day morning. After passing through the clearance, they decided to get a coffee and then hire a cab. Jason had avoided all of John’s calls and even blocked him. He hadn’t believed Jane’s story, not yet anyway, but he wasn’t ready to take a risk.
As they walked towards a coffee shop named ‘Brintel’s Coffee’ Jason felt a hand on his shoulder stop him. He tried to turn around but the hand didn’t allow him and voice whispered in his ear, “Don’t even make a move!”
He glanced towards Jane and saw that she was in a similar position with a gun behind her. Jason guessed that he too probably had a gun behind him.
The voice said in a harsh tone, “Walk!”
Both of them complied and walked towards a parked SUV outside. Once they got in, their heads were covered by a black musty bag. They drove for half an hour after which they switched vehicles, then drove again for some time and switched vehicles again.
This time Jason was agitated and asked, “What’s going on?”
Nobody responded for a long time, and then one of them said, “Precaution, to avoid unwanted company. Don’t worry it is over.”
They drove for about fifteen minutes, finally stopped and got out and had the bags removed from their heads. They looked forward and saw an old building standing sad and tall in front of them. Its windows were broken and the walls were grey. The whole place emitted a sort of negative environment.
Jason sighed, “Why all the villains does have to live in a place like this?”
As a response, he was pushed forward and they walked into the building.
“Welcome!” said a cold gruel voice in a heavy Russian accent. “My dear guests…ahh Sameer you can do the necessary procedures and bring them to the main hall.”
“Pavel Ratzigan”, said James through gritted teeth.
Jane who had been quiet all this time said,” You know this guy?”
“Ahh…. Yes, Jason and I are... what they say in America... ‘Old friends’, replied Pavel.
Jason and Jane and their bags were checked thoroughly which was supposedly the “procedures” and were brought in front of Pavel who was in a huge hall by a couple of men. They shut the door behind them leaving the others behind.
“Yes, yes come in, we have a lot to discuss, especially with Jason.” said Pavel.
“Listen Pavel, what’s the deal?”
“The deal! You want to know the deal?” replied Pavel laughing. Well, the deal is I kill you and get 3 million dollars from my father.”
Jane asked, “Who’s your father?”
Pavel Revendil replied smiling slyly, “Alfred Revendil.”
