Serial killers sometimes operate in a group of trusted friends and family members. These bonds make them more efficient and harder for the law to crack. Here are 10 of the most dangerous families in the world.

The Gonzalez Sisters

The Gonzalez sisters (Delfina, Maria de Jesus, Carmen and Maria Luisa) were famous during their heydays. They ran a successful business from 1945 until the police shut it down in 1964. The notorious siblings ran an illegal brothel called Rancho El Angel in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. The city was the center of the sister’s large-scale prostitution network. The women who worked for these sisters were forced to do so, they were either kidnapped from their families or falsely hired for use as housemates. The sisters forced them to do the job after they arrived at the facility, those who refused were drugged with heroin until they gave into their demands. The job of a prostitute was tasking, they worked all day and night and must satisfy their clients. Women who were too tired or wanted a way out were killed. The sisters also targeted clients with lots of money, they mandate the girls to steal the money and if there is an objection, the client is killed too. The police got wind of what was happening in the brothel and raided it. When they arrived, they found the bodies of 80 women 11 men and various aborted foetus, but it is believed that more than 150 people were killed. The Mexican courts sentenced the sisters to 40 years in prison and the Guinness World Records name them The Most Prolific Murder Partnership ever.

Shaka

Shakazulu’s family had been head of the Zulu Clan even though Zulus were relatively unimportant then. Shaka changed the game and gave his family the fame it is known for today, he expanded his power until he had absolute authority. He had the tactics that made Zulu warriors the envy of all. They were even superior to British colonists because they knew the terrain more than the British soldiers, they moved swiftly and more efficiently, they followed orders without asking questions and scared their enemies. Shaka insisted on absolute obedience without questioning, he punished anyone who didn’t live up to his expectations. Soldiers returned home to find their property destroyed and their families killed. Being a warrior meant you had no excuse to be defeated, if you’re unlucky you’ll suffer the same thing. There’s a debate on whether Shaka was a true warrior of his people or a cruel tyrant. Regardless some locals still consider him a hero of his people. After his mother died, his behavior worsened. He ordered morning rituals that made great demands of his people and resulted in hardship for many. His half-brothers assassinated him in 1828.

Genghis Khan’s Clan

The Genghis Khan family lived in a small relatively unknown part of the Mongolian steppe. They later grew to become the greatest land empire in history. Most Mongol families considered them the central pillar of society. Their sons and grandsons extended the empire to reach from the western shores of the Black Sea to the Pacific. Although the Mongols were few, they conquered their enemies through psychological and tactical warfare. If a city surrendered to them, they were treated well and enjoyed the fruits of the land. if however they resisted their rule, the invaders taught them a grave lesson. Despite the violence, as the Mongols extended their rule, their territories were safe and well controlled. Once they took over power in many cases, they improved past conditions and built a better society. Subjects were set free and could do all they wanted, provided it was within the ambits of the law. They decided freedom of worship, association movement and other fundamental rights existed. Experts say the Mongol expansion struggle, killed 11 percent of the world’s population.

The Kray Twins

Ronald and Reginald Kray were identical twins who ruled east of London with iron fists. These known men rose from obscurity and soon cast a shadow over London with their newfound power and authority. They ran a criminal empire that depended on armed robbery and protection rackets. They ensured the compliance of their subordinates by all means even if it meant murder, assault or arson. They worked from a nightclub where they forced the original owner to sell the property to them. Ordinary people were unaffected by their cruel practices so they didn’t understand what was happening. They revered the twins and didn’t see anything wrong. The Kray’s acted as a local authority that helped people with problems, they would even guarantee their safety on the streets. They soon became celebrities in their rights and got the support of the masses. The police arrested them in 1968 and crushed their empire. Ronnie was sent to Broadmoor hospital, a high security psychiatric facility. He died of a heart attack in 95 while his mother died of cancer in 2000.

Fred and Rose West

Every criminal has a motive for committing a crime or an incentive that follows after the deed is done. For some, they just have to hurt people to be alive, they derive satisfaction from going against the law and aren’t scared that the law will later turn to hunt them. This was the case of Fred and Rose West, their actions defy logic Fred committed at least a dozen murders between 1967 and 1987. His victims were all young women. You would think that his wife would speak up against those murders but no, she was silent and was an accomplice. Reports say she was under Fred’s control and willingly participated in those crimes. She was a prostitute and knew many young women. At his instance, she agreed to work as a prostitute to lure ladies to her husband. His motive was sexual gratification, the couple enjoyed the cruelty they inflicted on their victims. They would bind them and take them to their small house in Gloucester England. The couple were later arrested and sent to prison. Fred couldn’t wait longer behind bars so he committed suicide in 1995 while Rose stayed behind to serve her sentence.

Inessa Tarverdiyeva and Family

Serial killers have different modes of operation depending on the mood. Sometimes they recruit kids to serve as cover for their gruesome crimes. With kids part of a gang, you would never suspect anything. Inessa Tarverdiyeva and family is another group that deserves mention on this list. Inessa married Roman Podkopaev and the couple have two daughters Viktoria and Anastasiya. Viktoria was from her previous relationship while Anastasiya was from her present marriage. The family lived in a comfortable home in the Stavropol district of Russia. She was a nursery school teacher while Roman was a dentist. Although they weren’t rich, you wouldn’t classify them as poor because they earned enough to care for the family, they took several trips to the woods as cover-up for their crimes. This notorious group broke into houses killed the occupants and took whatever they found fancy. Most of what they took had little value but were just trophies. The raid was often gruesome. In one raid, they tortured two teenage girls and gouged their eyes out before killing them. They also killed cops for fun since Inessa enjoyed doing it.

The Borgias

The list of the most notorious families on Earth would be incomplete without mentioning the Borgias. They were originally from Spain and were dominant in the 15th century religious and political world. Every family member was ambitious and hungry for power meaning they could do anything to achieve it. In fact the Borgias family produced two popes namely Pope Callixtus III and Pope Alexander VI including the infamous Lucrezia. She’s the best remembered member of the family and Pope Alexander’s daughter. Her family used her as a pawn for their power place, while alive she entered several arranged marriages to help expand her family’s grip. She was under strict orders to infiltrate the new families and take charge. Their neighbours often describe them as ruthless and a family that stopped at nothing until they achieved their goals. During Alexander’s papacy, many suspected him of theft, incest, murder, adultery and bribery. Some historians believe these negative tales about them were the handiwork of jealous rivals who wanted to bring them down at all costs.

Gimghoul Castle’s Secret Society

The order of Gimghoul is a famous secret society that extends invitations to influential male students, after their recruitment, most people are left in the dark. The group was reportedly formed in 1889 by Edward Ray Martin and four others men. It was formerly Dromgoogle but was changed to Gimghoul which means weirdness, graves, and midnight. The founder got the inspiration for its name from Peter Dromgoogle story. Legend has it that Peter and another student were in love with the same girl, this led the opponents to engage in a fight where Peter eventually lost. He disappeared and nothing was heard of him. The secret society is inspired by death. In one photo of the group in the 1950s, you can see someone wearing a leopard’s face, another wore the devil’s face. Despite the codes, legends, rituals and secrecy members live by, they understand they’re still human.

The Bean Clan

While our planet has several mysterious cities, Scotland tops the list for many reasons. It was once home to the Bean Clan comprising Alexander Bean and his partner ‘Black’ Agnes Douglas. The team built a home in a hidden cave and produced children. These children produced more children through incest and within a short period they grew to 45 members. Since jobs at the time were insufficient they survived by murdering and eating travelers. The clan operated only at night and retired to their cave in the morning where they feasted on their unfortunate victim and rested for another operation that night. Locals didn’t even notice that a family lived in the area because they chose a remote spot where they’ll be undetected. They lived there for 25 years and killed at least 1000 passers-by. After rumours spread that something fishy was happening in the area, the authorities tracked the clan down. They captured the males cut off their genitalia and threw them into a fire, their hands and feet and all muscle cut until they bled to death, women and children also suffered a similar fate. The Bean Clan story became famous in the 18th century, many wondered why this story took so long before it became public. Who tried to hide this part of history?

The Bloody Benders

The Bender family built a cabin in Lebec County Kansas where they lived a quiet life. You would only know humans lived there if you missed your way and landed there. In the 1870s some travelers traveled that path, when they stopped for a meal in a cabin west on the Great Osage Trail. Unknown to them, the Bender family lived there. It wouldn’t have been a problem that they bumped into a stranger’s house except that they met the wrong people. Locals say the dinner they ate in the cabin was their last meal. A family member smashed the guest’s head with a sledgehammer from behind, before the rest of them realize what was happening, they dropped dead on the floor. It’s unclear the number of people that died in the cabin. We also don’t know if the guests may have provoked the family to get that reaction, some say they killed the visitors for fun. The Benders disappeared after locals became suspicious and never returned to their cabin. Years later another family of four moved into the cabin and soon went on a killing spree. Were they the same people or was it haunted?
