Charlie Kirk, 31, has passed away.
Justice for Charlie Kirk.

Law enforcement identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the primary suspect in the killing of conservative activist and father of two, Charlie Kirk. The 31-year-old Kirk, founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, died from a single gunshot wound to the neck on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, about 39 miles south of Salt Lake City. Robinson was taken into custody in Washington County, Utah, after confessing to his father, a veteran police officer.
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk arrived at Utah Valley University for his speech. Reports indicate that Robinson arrived on campus around 8:29 a.m. MT the morning of the shooting. Police said Robinson drove a gray Dodge Challenger and wore a plain maroon T-shirt, light shorts, light shoes, and a black Cox-branded hat. Authorities reported Robinson changed into dark clothing immediately before the shooting. Surveillance showed Robinson entering campus, traversing stairwells, ascending to the roof, and moving across it to the shooting location.
At 12:05 p.m. MT, thousands of students awaited Kirk’s arrival. UVU was the first stop on Kirk’s Turning Point USA American Comeback Tour. At 12:09 p.m., Kirk appeared before 3,000 students, tossing hats to attendees before taking a seat. At 12:33 p.m., Kirk was shot once in the neck. Authorities said the shot originated from a nearby rooftop, where the shooter moved between roof sections, jumped from the building, and fled into a nearby neighborhood. The video then shows Kirk being carried to an SUV by six men and transported to Timpanogos Regional Hospital.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the university sent out an alert that Police were investigating an active shooting and that a suspect was in custody. However, at the time, the person of interest was released following questioning. At this point, students were placed on lockdown on campus as authorities arrived at the scene. Police and first responders were seen entering the scene, quickly starting to process the scene.
Two hours later, at 2:22 p.m. MT, Authorities with the Orem Police Department stated that they did not have a suspect in custody and that the shooter was still at large. At 2:40 p.m. MT, President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that his ally, Charlie Kirk, had passed away from his injuries. Stating “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirt, is dead. No one in the United States of America understood or had the Heart of a youth better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and I extend our sympathies to his beautiful wife, Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!
Former President Barack Obama said, “We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirt, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.” FBI Director Kash Patel stated, “The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is not in custody. Thank you to the local and state authorities in Utah for your partnership with the FBI. We will provide updates when able.”
