Let’s meet Alex.

He examined the phone’s filesystem and system data and was able to identify where her daughter frequently visited in the past few weeks. After documenting his findings thoroughly to act as unreputable evidence, he contacted the authorities immediately and provided them with the information he had found. Based on the information Alex provided, the authorities were able to locate the girl and brought her safely home to her anxious mother.

The relief and gratitude on the mother's face when she heard the news and later was reunited with her daughter were something Alex would never ever forget. It was moments like these that made all the long hours and sometimes nights of work without a break worthwhile.

Alex's work isn’t always about solving mysteries or finding evidence of a physical crime, the smoking gun, or even preventing a case of cybercrime in progress. Sometimes, it is about advising clients to secure their systems, and networks or even educating the on human weaknesses factor and by doing so prevent future attacks and financial losses. One of Alex's recent challenging clients was a well-known financial institution that had experienced a multitude of security-related breaches in the past years.

This financial institution was at risk of losing customer trust or reputation and facing severe financial repercussions if they did not take immediate and severe action. Alex conducted a cybersecurity assessment including a pen-testing and phishing exercise and provided recommendations to the board on how to improve their security measures, including multi-factor authentication, access controls, regular vulnerability assessments, and an ongoing employee awareness program.
