Death, the end of this life which in my opinion has a very paradoxical meaning. A person who you knew that you used to talk with or spend time vanishes with all his habits, his talks and also his thoughts, you are never going to meet him now, even you eagerly want him by your side that’s not possible. They say everyone must meet death at certain point, should we just wait for that moment to occur? ‘Death is everywhere’ so should we fear everything? Death is paradoxical; it ends life, yet gives it meaning. Universal yet mysterious.
1. What kind of death do you want then?
Consider a person who dies suddenly from a heart attack or a disaster or by anything which makes death sudden. The person won’t struggle if he dies suddenly, I think it would be easy for him, but it will be a nightmare for his loved ones, they didn’t get much time to spend with that person, they didn’t get to tell the thing they wanted to say for a long time. There will be heartbreaks for those people, but the person dies suddenly, he doesn’t know who is suffering from nightmares for their whole life because his loss. He would never want this if he was alive.
Now, consider the person dies with an incurable disease, the situation is flipped; now the person dying is going to suffer unbearable pain until he dies, but his loved ones the other side will be mentally prepared for his death which makes things slightly easier for them emotionally. But the person is going to die slowly.
Now, which is better; a death where you suffer less but your loved ones will suffer more, or a death where you suffer but things are easier for your loved ones? It is more difficult than we think when we imagine it deeply. I wonder which side I am on.
Death is a paradoxical thing if you ask me. There are lots of things I don’t know yet, but I am going to learn them and when I do, I will write a part two of this.
2. Which is better? To live as a monster or die as a good man.
This is again a question which seems simple but is quite complicated. We talk about heaven and hell, that is people with good deeds get to go to heaven where they live their peaceful afterlife and the people who lived their lives doing bad things gets hell which is a chaotic place for afterlife. But the main question is what if this concept of afterlife isn’t actually real? If you ask me I have seen people with absolutely bad behavior. They troubled so many people, they made their lives miserable. Yet, such a personalities dies without receiving any punishments - they died a natural death, and in some cases a peaceful one ( I believe you may have seen this kind of person somewhere in your lives, but I have seen many). People justify it by saying that the person is going to hell and his soul will suffer. But what if this concept doesn’t exist? Then that person died peacefully, enjoyed luxury for his whole life without ever regretting it, without atoning for his sins and without receiving any punishment. I sometimes hope that a place like hell must exist so that person like this gets what he deserves, but who know?
I personally can’t even imagine spoiling someone’s life, I can’t even ruin someone’s day. So I choose to live as a good man, and I believe that’s the best path for me.
I am still learning and exploring these thoughts. Thank you for reading. If this piece made you feel something it means a lot to me. This is my first time writing something so please give me some suggestions if you have one and would love to hear if I can improve.
