The Greatest Mother

Rowden was growing too fast for her one-eye blind mother to believe. He was her only son as a single mother. His father left them both as soon as he came into their lives. But Sicily being a super strong mother decided to take care of the only left person in her small world. She worked till her heel got cracked every single day to raise her baby and to provide her everything that his dad had denied to.

Little Rowden had grown to a young bright boy in no time. Sicily was now taking her to school like she everyday did but this time it was a bit different. As Sicily was one eye blind — through the eyes of this disgusting world she was a bit ugly. Although, Rowden was all her asset, he started to act strange lately. Mother was worried about the behaviour of Rowden. He now seemed to get upset with her very quick.

One day— breaking the ice— mother asked her son about the matter. She asked him why he was acting rude lately. Rowden—breaking her heart— said,"Mother, now stop taking me to school everyday! It's so embarrassing that you've got one eye missing and my friends—they make fun of me"

Pretending to be all good and ok mother calmed her son down by saying," Oh my baby, I'm sorry! I had no idea it would hurt you"

Time flew by, Rowden got rebellious influenced by his rusted peers. He started spending more time with the bold world and less or let's be true —no time with his mother. He got to an age where he decided to move out leaving his old mother out in her worst time of diseases.

Sicily used to call Rowden every fortnight but her lovely Rowden was too busy with her newly wed wife—He never answered to her calls.

Old lady got too old to perfectly rest in peace in her new home and after a year of waiting for her son to return home she died desperately.

A week later an old man visited Rowdens residence and told him about the awful news of her mothers death. For once, all her memories flashed before Rowdens eyes. He felt so submerged in regret that he decided to immidealty visit to his childhood home.

When he got there, the house was locked. The only thing was a letter lying by the door. "My dear Rowden, I hope you will find this letter as my last words to you", was written on the outside of the envelope.

He instantly opened the letter and started reading. Her mothers words were :

" Dear Rowden,

You were my only person and asset in the world. But I guess, you had many more people to share your life with— and I don't blame you for it.

I just wanted to tell you something i had been hiding from you since childhood. I know it was embarassing for you when your friends mocked at me. It's just that there was a time when your mother was the most beautiful woman in the whole town. Until one day when you were 9 months old and while playing you got a broken glass in your left eye. Your eye was completely damaged. Your father at that time had already left us. So, without wasting a moment I rushed to the hospital and I donated my eye to my little prince.

Just know that your mommy was not too ugly.

"

And Rowden was a living dead after reading the letter!

I agree with Mr. Delon. It resonated with me, especially the last few lines. Your imagination doesn't match your age. Just like mine!

Thank you for sharing this touching story. It powerfully highlights the sacrifices a mother makes and the complex emotions between her and her son. Sicily's love and strength shine through, and Rowden's journey is a heartfelt reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding. The twist at the end is gut-wrenching and really makes readers rethink their relationships. Your writing evokes real emotions and leaves a lasting impression. Great job!
