Sorry I Ate Your Face. Top Story - January 2022.
Ever have one of those social mishaps you’ll never forget? Ever become so mortified you think you might die from it? Yeah, me too. In fact, this little episode was so humiliating that I thought I might literally die. Yes, literally. I could have choked to death, but in that moment, I felt dying might very well be the less awkward option. But now, two years into COVID, I find I’m nostalgic for those discomfiting moments that can only occur when we meet in person. And this truly embarrassing tale is from ‘the before times’, when we could participate in ‘meet and eat’ events.

I accidentally revealed to a work colleague that I write erotic fiction on Vocal. Top Story - January 2022.
That's not embarrassing, this is embarrassing... I’m usually pretty good at keeping my work persona and my non-work persona separate. You know I dress in a business shirt and tie on weekdays, I’m a shorts and t-shirts guy on weekends. In the office, I manage a team of professionals and will talk with my staff if they are behaving in a manner that’s not ok, after hours I drink and swear a lot. I think there aren’t too many of us that don’t show our full selves at work, I mean unless you’re an exotic dancer or sex worker, in which case that is an accurate description of what you do for work.

The Joys Of The Hanna House
For the beginning of the year, I have been working as a volunteer for the Hanna House. The location works perfectly as the place is in my neighborhood. For two months, I have been learning about the aspects and purpose of the Hanna House and how many people are served there weekly. It is welcomed to contributions from the USDA, food and clothing donations and volunteers whenever they come.

The worst job ever
A few years ago, I left a job I got right out of college. Granted neither job is what I went to school for, but after graduation, nothing in the Paralegal field was offering anything more than minimum wage. So I got a receptionist job at a manufacturing company for more than minimum, and the first Mon-Fri 8-5 job of my life.

Getting Fired? Ex-Marine Told Me He Cried and Sought Therapy
Just by a show of hands, who does all of the following?: Who, as a newly-minted graduate, signs a 30-year mortgage with 5% down payment for your very first condo, across the street from your new workplace even before your orientation is over, after persistently convincing your spouse that it is the right thing to do? Who volunteers for overtime shifts whenever your boss asks you? Who tries to wear different hats all the time that are not even described under qualification and responsibility sections for the position you applied, such as cleaning, checking inventories, fixing stuff around where no one cares to look, and etc.? Who actively asks your boss for feedbacks and what you can do to "not get fired" and to prove that you are a valuable asset to the company? Who obsessively thinks about how to improve yourself for the good of the company even on your off-days and willing to change your lifestyle for the benefit of the company? Who tearfully agrees to drop out of school when your boss half-threateningly asks you to and focus on work for at least another year (just a year? Wink, wink.)? After that meeting, although you still end up not dropping out and successfully graduating from graduate school many years on time, who had to keep that a super-secret, like how it is in North Korea, and was never able to use "I have 3 papers due this week and 4 final exams next week" as an excuse because, from their point-of-view, you already dropped out? Who verbalizes to your boss how grateful you are even for the meager paychecks and no raise or bonus in sight because you work for the experience and opportunity and not for the money? Who goes out of your way to complement your coworkers on their successes and achievements, small and big, especially in front of the boss, by saying, "You are my role model!" without any of them being seemingly appreciative of your gesture.

The End of an Era 2021
So here we are. Lost or afraid. So much of life has changed that now it’s just a path of unknown consequences. Unable to fully commit, fear of abandonment, worried about being put aside or not heard right. Now more than ever things are going to progress and with each hard step, comes a sacrifice. Those whom you hold dear now reside in a place within your heart never gone but not forgotten. The avenues you go through to see yourself in a new light.

The Trouble in Trendifying Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Top Story - January 2022.
Gen Z has made skinny jeans lame and almost single-handedly brought back wired headphones. Supermodels like Bella Hadid have made 90s fashion trendy again. Round wireframe glasses and hanging out at local coffee shops are a thing again, and as any trendy girl knows, succulents are all the rage right now.

Working day
I recently start a job that has 12 hour shifts. The usual response I get from people, ‘how what why are you okay?’ A reasonable question if you’ve never had to work such long arduous hours. Today being a kind of snow day I thought it would be interesting to keep a record of my day. This is that record (Imagine Law & Order sound effects in your head.).

Hotel Diary
I just love hotel slang, only those who have worked in the Hospitality industry will understand the beast that is... Customer Service. I am intrigued by human behavior, so working in the hotel industry is just perfect for me! The things I have witnessed are a must see, to say the least. I will not stop writing about my experiences until we are on the big screen! Working in Hospitality has been quite an experience, I thought I saw it all in the Stripper World.. nope.. some of the weirdest things I have witnessed have been at the workplace not club place.. as weird as that may be, so I am happy to share!
