She was the boss

And she knew it…she absolutely knew it.

I had a boss once, who wrote this as the content in an email in response to some concerns over the quality of care and cutbacks that management (like herself) were making. I think she was drunk when she wrote it. But I’ve kept it. For years. Saved on my computer. It’s indescribably insensitive and callous towards the people in care homes who she managed staffing for. The delusional sense of authority she had has never failed to relay the inhumane arrogance of all that is wrong with private healthcare, and how the elderly are mistreated, abused, and neglected. It is disturbingly evil and incredibly unsophisticated in its written style.

It’s both beautifully ignorant and arrogant. Disgustingly unethical. And it’s sadly, exactly how she feels about herself, her job, and the industry she works in. And many others, too. with pride.

Her unhinged, drunk email is a window into the darkness of humanity, and the swiftly dwindling intelligence of mankind.

This is it, her masterpiece. An email that she could not and will never be able to unsend. I’ve formatted it for readability. And changed the font, from the original comic sans. So, it might not come off as strong, but I hope it does. And I’ve removed any identifiers, to protect anyone’s privacy. Because this message is universally important. It’s an organic, thoughtless mindset of a person groomed by mediocrity.

She is an enemy of humanity itself. A staple, though, in everyone’s professional life. A staple of peak capitalism personified.

Since the email was not something she could guarantee everyone read, she then printed this in her office with pictures and her own logo. Then framed it on the back wall, behind where she sat. So, anyone who spoke to her in a meeting could read it. And we did. Repeatedly. For some reason, she thought this was proof of her own excellence. In her own profound words.

IM THE BOSS, FIRST OF ALL, AND I MAKE THE DECISIONS

I got to where I am now on my own. I worked my way up. From care aid to care manager of a large long term care facility.

We provide the best staffing solution for care homes by ensuring superfluous costs on supplies, staff, or tools to perform care are limited.

You have to be tough healthcare to get to the top. You can’t be afraid to say no. When things are short — make sure your staff know it’s their job to pull up their bootstraps and make it work. If they don’t like it — boot ‘em.

Elderly people are dying. So let them. And make money housing them. They ain’t using it.

Their families don’t want them. They don’t need to die on a bed of roses. Providing a roof and a few meals is all they need. If you don’t like it? Too bad. I’m the manager and you’re not.

My opinion matters. I’m the boss. And my staff know it. There’s a reason we run a tight ship and it’s not just about efficiency — it’s about survival. I work in a long-term care facility, and I know how to make it work. And make money.

The reality is the margins are thin, and the demands are high. I’m the high command. That’s why I keep control over every aspect, every decision. I make money by saving it. I make money by investing it in things that last — myself, shareholders, facility owners.

That’s why I’m at top and belong here. I know what matters — those who can produce, not those who can’t. Dying people can’t produce. Like me or hate me, it’s the truth. Housing them is a service that’s a favor they should be grateful for.

And we should be adequately compensated for. Especially the people at the top, who make it happen.

Dark but true. Deal with it.

Successful people know that people aren’t all equal. Especially the ones at the top. We earned our way here.

That’s my two cents.

These people are practically dead already. So don’t go coming to me complaining about them being neglected. They can’t even tell.

I make the moves here and that’s moving money from them to us. That’s life, kids. That’s how we make money.

And….Remember who’s boss

You’re lookin’ at her.. ME
