She Blocked Me 3 Years Ago Then Messaged Me Last Night
I never thought I’d hear from her again let alone read the words that changed everything.

I was half-asleep when my phone buzzed. It was 1:38 am
...................... ........................
I ignored it at first Probably a marketing message or a group notification. But then it buzzed again. This time a direct message on Instagram.
From her
I froze
Her name the one I hadnot seen in over three years lit up my screen. The girl who blocked me after a horrible fight. The girl I thought I’d never speak to again. The girl I once planned my whole future with.
I stared at it. My heart started racing. My fingers didn’t move for a whole minute.
Hey I know this is random but can we talk?
Just ten words. But they carried the weight of everything we never said everything we left hanging between us.
We had met in college. Not in a movie perfect way. I was late for class. She was arguing with a vending machine that ate her money. We laughed she offered me half her melted chocolate bar and somehow, we never stopped talking after that.
................................... ........................................
She was loud confident and full of strange stories. I was quiet careful and always overthinking. We balanced each other until we didnot
After graduation life pulled us in different directions. Jobs cities stress expectations. The last fight we had wasnot even about anything serious. Just frustration bottled emotions and timing. She blocked me I respected that.
But I never stopped thinking about her.
Back to the message.
I opened her profile. She hadn’t posted in months. Still had that photo of her by the beach hair in a messy bun laughing at the wind. I used to take those photos. I remembered the exact moment.
I typed, deleted retyped.
Finally I sent
I didnot expect this. What is up?
She replied instantly
Can I call?
Now my hands were sweating.
Yeah Sure
Her voice hadn’t changed.
Still soft still a little raspy at night. She laughed nervously and I smiled before I could stop myself.
We didnot dive into drama. No heavy apologies. Just updates. Where we were. What we were doing. How weird life had been.
Then came the silence.
She broke it.
I messaged you because I have been carrying something heavy. And I think you deserve to hear it.
I did not interrupt.
................................. ......................................
She took a deep breath and said I was pregnant. After we broke up.
The room felt smaller. My breath caught.
It was not planned. I was scared I did not know how to tell you. And before I could figure it out I lost the baby.
I sat there, stunned. I could hear her trying not to cry on the other end.
I blamed myself for everything. For not telling you, for shutting you out. But I could not carry it anymore.
There are moments in life that change how you see everything. This was one of them.
I did not feel anger. Just pain empathy and a deep kind of sadness.
We talked for hours after that. About everything and nothing.
She didn’t want anything from me. Not a relationship. Not forgiveness. Just closure. Honesty. And maybe peace.
We hung up at 4:12 am.
I did not sleep that night. But for the first time in a long time, my heart felt lighter.
She reminded me that we are all carrying things we do not talk about. That sometimes, silence isn't absence it is fear
And that sometimes, healing starts with a simple message
Can we talk?
