I am a college student from the Philippines, a country known for its rich natural resources, beautiful landscapes, and vibrant culture. However, beneath these positive qualities lies a harsh reality that many, especially those from other countries, do not fully understand: the widespread poverty that continues to affect millions of Filipinos. Although the Philippines boasts breathtaking tourist destinations, many of its citizens, including my family and me, struggle daily with financial hardships. As a student, this reality has a profound impact on my ability to pursue education and a better future.

My parents, like many others in the country, work hard to provide for our family. They have sacrificed so much to support me and my siblings in every way they can. I am deeply grateful for their efforts, and it is my dream to repay them by finishing my studies, securing a stable job, and helping alleviate the financial burden on them. However, despite their dedication, it is still not enough to cover the cost of my education, especially when it comes to paying for tuition, textbooks, and other school-related expenses. Every semester, we find ourselves scrambling to make ends meet, and this pressure weighs heavily on all of us.

One of the biggest challenges I face as a student is balancing the cost of living with my academic responsibilities. Our family home is located far from my university, so I have no choice but to live in a boarding house near campus to save on transportation expenses. The daily cost of commuting is simply too high, and staying closer to school helps me reduce this financial strain. However, renting a room adds to the overall expenses, and I constantly have to budget carefully to make sure I have enough for food, basic needs, and school supplies. It is a delicate balancing act, and there are times when I worry about how I will manage to continue.

In an effort to ease the financial pressure, I have explored various ways to earn money while studying. I knew that I needed to find a way to contribute, even if it was just a small amount, to help cover my expenses and lessen the burden on my parents. After doing some research, I came across different online platforms that offered opportunities to earn money by writing or engaging in freelance work. One of the platforms I discovered was Vocal, which allows users to publish stories and potentially earn income based on readership.

I decided to give it a try, and after several months of dedication, I managed to save up to 37 US dollars. For many people, this might seem like a small amount, but for a student like me who is in need, it is a significant help. That money could cover my food expenses for several days or go toward purchasing necessary materials for my classes. I was excited at the prospect of having some financial relief, even if it was modest, and it gave me a sense of hope that I could continue to support myself while pursuing my education.

Unfortunately, my excitement was short-lived. When I attempted to withdraw the money I had earned, I encountered a major obstacle: Vocal requires its users to link their accounts to Stripe in order to withdraw funds, but Stripe is not available in the Philippines. Upon discovering this, I was deeply disappointed and frustrated. I had worked hard to earn that money, and the realization that I could not access it was disheartening. It felt like another setback in my already challenging journey as a student trying to make ends meet.

Determined not to give up, I began searching for alternative ways to withdraw the funds or find a solution to the problem. However, my options were limited, and I soon realized that without access to Stripe, I would not be able to receive the money I had worked for. That was when I decided to share my story in the hopes that someone might be able to help me. Whether it’s through advice on how to access the funds or by offering financial assistance, I believe there are kind-hearted people out there who are willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

I know that asking for help is not easy, and it is something I do with humility and gratitude. I am not seeking large donations or handouts, but rather, any small amount that someone might be willing to contribute. Even a modest sum would make a big difference in my daily life, allowing me to cover the cost of meals, transportation, or school supplies. I am deeply grateful to anyone who would consider helping me during this difficult time.

For those who are able to offer assistance, I have a PayPal/Gcash account, which is the only means I have of receiving money. My account number is (09976274502). Any contribution, no matter how small, would go a long way in helping me continue my studies and work toward a better future for myself and my family.

I sincerely thank anyone who has taken the time to read my story and consider offering support. Your kindness and generosity would not only provide me with immediate financial relief, but would also give me hope and motivation to keep pushing forward despite the challenges I face. God bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Way to go in what you are doing while going to college and trying to help your family. Well, I am no longer a college student or a grad student, but I am semi-retired and came to Vocal to make extra money as well to help with my expenses. I wish I could help but the little I make is barely enough at times. Good luck and this is a great read to show how resilient a person you are now.
