My Experience at the Well
~A vision for encouragement

I was standing by an old-fashioned well. It was the middle of the day. It was quiet and the heat was very intense outside. I had just enough time to come draw water. Every day, when there was little to no people around, I would come get water. It was the only part of the day where there was no judgment in the eyes of those that seemed to follow me wherever I went.
Just before I was about to lower the water bucket to get some water, a man appeared from out of nowhere. Where did he come from? He asked, “Would you get me some water, please?” I lowered the bucket down, and when I pulled the bucket of water back up, I handed the whole bucket toward him. He took a handful of water and playfully splashed me with the water, smiling. He possessed the most endearing, gentle and playful smile that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. In that moment, I knew exactly who he was. He was Jesus. He’d come to speak to me through the playful gesture. He didn’t say anything aloud but his playful action told me everything I needed to know, which was for me to lighten up and enjoy life!
~~~~~
This came from a vision I had recently. I know that God was speaking to me in that he wanted me to know that he delights in being around me and wants me to not take life too seriously. This vision I had stems from the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman who was drawing water at the well. If you haven’t read this story, then I highly recommend that you read it. The story can be found in the Gospel of John chapter four. The story is breathtakingly powerful because it shows the unconditional love that Jesus showed those around him, whether they were Jews, Samaritans or anyone that he came in contact with.
We should work toward showing that level of non-judgmental attitude to those we meet as well. Jesus was all about fostering strong relationships, not harping on the legalistic drain of religiousity! So many people around the globe want a bullet point list of things to follow in order to be right with God, but really God just wants to hear us and show us what His uninterrupted presence is actually all about.
My prayer for you is that you will have a vision from God too about the true character of Jesus and his willingness to go the extra mile for you. He isn’t just willing to walk an extra mile for you but he’s willing to carry you on His back during that extra mile. He wants you to experience His joy that He walks in daily, along with the other fruit of the Spirit.
May the Lord bless you and may His face shine on you as you grow in your understanding of Him. He’s a personal God who wants you to experience soulful intimacy that is actually the only thing that will bring you fulfillment in your life. I also pray that God would grant you strength and wisdom to be reminded that your life is as a mist and that we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Make sure you’re at peace with God and all those around you. Philippians 4:7 says, “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Yes, peace acts as a shield of protection when it comes to the type of peace that He provides. Don’t forget how much you’re loved by Him!
