The average American prefers either chocolate or vanilla, I love both. My mom would get so frustrated when I would take forever trying to decide while the line grew longer at our local Tasty Freeze. They’re both silky smooth in texture and each provides a taste that’s orgasmic to the senses. I would lick and suck every drop out of each cone.
I’ve discussed Court, my Vanilla Queen and high school sweetheart, but to be fair I had two. My vanilla queen and I were secret loves as much as you could be secretive in Small Town Friendly. My public sweetheart in high school was my Chocolate Barbie.
Amber was the mirror image of her vanilla counterpart. She stood 5 feet 9 inches long, dancer legs, straight black shoulder link locks, milk chocolate flawless skin, light brown eyes with a twinkle. Face of an Angel; Ass like a stripper. Amber reminded me of a Chocolate Barbie doll.
She possessed an air of classy sexiness. My love was modest, almost to a fault. When she entered a room, you would gravitate to her; I truly believe she never realized her sizzling hotness. Let me be frank, there are some girls guys just want to wham Bam thank you mam. Amber’s body was so alluring and delicate that when we made love I was always tender, affectionate and sweet. I never in our 2 year love affair ever heard her curse.
My Chocolate Queen was smart, sexy and laughed at all my shenanigans. I loved her, but to be honest, I didn’t deserve her. Amber was my Queen before Courtney. She was the gold standard of girlfriends. I often wondered: can a man love two women at the same time? In my case I can truly say when I’m in the presence of either of my two queens, I love them passionately. The time I spent with them both was absolutely the best time in my young life.
Coming into the year of my 2 Queens I was my high school’s starting quarterback on the football team; starting point guard on the basketball team and an all county track athlete on our track team. I possessed not one but two of the finest girlfriends in the Tri-County area.
I remember when Amber and I first met I’m at Kate’s Skateland in Shelby, NC. Sunday night I guess was Black Night cause 90% of the patrons were African Americans. I’m standing with my homie Bubba, watching all the different shapes, sizes and colors of our African queens. Out of the corner of my eye I spy this stunning creature walking my way, I notice is her smile; she is grinning ear to ear I look around to see who she’s staring at and would you believe it’s me; Mr. Lucky.
Our eyes lock; my God, she is the most gorgeous thing I’d ever seen, this Angel has descended from heaven and she is about to speak. Tim Kincaid, I’m Amber, nice to meet you; she holds out her hand for me to shake. I don’t shake I hold her hand with both of mine. Her sweet country voice, the Barbie smelled of freshly cut roses; she is wearing classy yellow shorts with suspenders attached, underneath a white button down short-sleeved shirt, big hoop earrings with flats. Her hair has big, bouncy curls. I’m still holding her hand, trying to speak, but nothing is coming out.
She continues. I live in the Projects and I go to the East. My voice works. Wait a minute, I’ve visited the Playground and Projects at least 100 times, how have we never met? I ask. Well Kincaid, my girls and I have checked you out; not only on the Playground and Projects, we try to make as many of your games as my schedule allows.
We have a couple of nicknames for you. She says with a smile. I’m afraid to ask. I reply. Pretty legs and eye candy. She giggles. Well, Miss Amber, from what I can see we make a brilliant match because you are definitely eye candy and I have never seen a pair of prettier legs than yours. Amber puts her hands over her mouth. Boy, you crazy. She says.
What grade are you in? I ask. I’m a Junior. She replies. I’m in the 10th grade. Yea, I like them young. She says. So now we are getting somewhere you like me. Of course, I don’t just walk up to strangers and introduce myself. That’s my song, let’s dance. I say.
Kate’s a skating rink however from 9 to 11 no skating and the rink becomes a dance floor. I lead Amber to the floor. I’m doing dance moves that make her smile. I hold her hand while she spins; my love is so free and unassuming. She’s like this beautiful black swan that you want to grab but you are afraid if you make the wrong move, she may fly away. I could have danced with her all night long, her presence so enchanting.
A slow song comes on our demeanors change. We go from laughing and smiling to dead serious. Luther croons: Long ago and so far away I fell in love with you before the second show. I take her hand and pull her close. Neither of us speaks. We begin to slow dance.
She is a smooth dancer; I pull back just enough so I can view her eyes. I take a piece of her hair and move it behind her ear. Slide my hands to cup her face. I slide my right hand to the nape of her neck as I pull my lips close. She closes her eyes. I close mine. We softly kiss. She has the softest lips I had ever felt. We briefly have a meeting of our tongues. She tastes like blueberries.
I could have kissed her all night long. The song ends. I take her hand as we walk off the floor. The overhead lights come on. That was the quickest 2 hours I’ve ever experienced.
We walk to her car, standing at her driver’s side door. Now what? I ask. I will give you my number. You will call me tomorrow and we will continue getting to know each other. She takes a pen from her glove box and writes her number in my palm. Do I need to put my name? She whispers. I get closer and kiss her neck and whisper in her ear. I’ve been waiting for you my entire life. I will never forget you.
I don’t notice that her friends have surrounded her car. Amber kisses my check. Bye Kincaid. She says. They all pile in the car. As she pulls away, her friend’s windows are down. They yell. Bye Kincaid, and giggle. Friends. I love Friends. I wave goodbye.
MY CHOCOLATE BARBIE. Continues…
