Knowing Me

This is for Kayleigh Fraser ❤️ Get To Know Me #challenge. I was not going to do it at first, but I decided, what the hell, let us do it.

So here are ten facts about me that only a few people know.

1. My real name is Sharon. I was named after my mother for an idiotic reason. Most people I know call me Sister, Aunt, or Mom. This includes friends and family. I had my name on Vocal but decided to change it one day out of boredom. I settled on Mother Combs, and I just fell in love with the sound of it and feel it fits my writing style just fine. Ever since I changed it to Mother, I have gotten more reads. I do not know if the name change was related to it; it could just be a coincidence.
2. I was born a Texan but live in Missouri. As much as I love Missouri, my heart will always belong to Texas. I stay in Missouri, though, because my husband was born here, and now both of my daughters.
3. My favorite color depends on my mood. I usually wear blues, grays, purples, greens, or blacks. Sometimes, I may throw a brown colored shirt in. I hate white because I always spill something on it when I wear it.
4. I cut my hair. I have done so for 24 years. I don’t feel anyone else can cut my hair to where I will be satisfied, so I cut it myself. Can’t bitch at me, now can I?
5. I gave myself whiplash learning to drive a standard at 22. My brother-in-law gave me a manual shift transmission car for me to go back and forth to college. Even though I did not finish my degree, I can drive one now.
6. I was raised Southern Baptist and Assembly of God, but I consider myself more a Wiccan. I refuse to step foot in a church today due to the treatment I received as a child in church. I had a stepmom who thought everyone, but her child was possessed, and she dragged me to every prayer meeting, trying to get the devil cast from my body. So I choose to instead to worship God through nature.
7. I met my husband when I was 19; he was 28, and I have been with him ever since. It’s been rough, but we have worked through our differences and made a relationship that works. We have two beautiful daughters.
8. I hate Cows. I once wrecked because some cows were on the road just over a hill. Lucky for me, I was in a Dodge. I just suffered some shock from the force of the wreck. My car just needed a new hood and windshield, and it was ok. I love a good steak, though.
9. I was raised in a family of nine kids. I was the youngest girl, with only a little brother younger than me. My younger brother was born when I was 14 years old. I SERIOUSLY MEAN IT when I say we were like a litter of pups. There were times we were downright feral, too.
10. I started reading Dick and Jane books at 3, and I don’t know who taught me how to read. It was more like I always knew how to read.

So here are ten things that no one here knew about me. I am not used to sharing anything about myself since I am generally a private person, so this feels like I have exposed much about myself when I haven't.
