If the Mind Wanted

An Emotional Autobiography

By TitlyPublished 8 months ago 3 min read

The mind is a strange thing. It is calm at times, like a still sea, and wild and agitated at other times, like crashing waves. There are no boundaries, no rules, just emotion and flow in its desires. "If the mind wants, I am willing to become the sun.

I'm willing to weep like the rain if the mind wants me to. I can remain silent and patient if the mind so chooses. There is deep humanity hidden within these lines. When the mind is filled with love, it seeks to give, to shine, to light the way—like the sun. Even if it knows that it may burn in the process, it does not hesitate. Because love, at its core, is self-sacrifice.

When the mind is hurting, it becomes the rain. It desires to shed all feelings and purify the soul through tears. In such moments, it no longer wants to pretend to be strong. It yearns to break down, to get drenched under an open sky, to release the weight it has silently carried. In that downpour, it finds purification—not just water, but renewal.

But perhaps the hardest state of all is silence. When the mind chooses to remain quiet, it does not mean it feels nothing—on the contrary, it feels everything, deeply. In its silence, it chooses endurance. It fights a quiet battle within. To the world, everything looks fine. But inside, a storm rages. That quiet strength, that restrained patience, is the purest form of courage.

Human life is like this: bright, dark, stormy, and sometimes still. At every stage, our mind walks beside us. It teaches us how to love, to cry, to laugh, to fight, and to heal.

Not everyone can be strong all the time. Sometimes, we fall apart. Sometimes, we cry quietly in the dark. But even in breaking down, there lies the seed of becoming. If one ever asks, "Why do I always smile, even when my mind is crying inside?"—perhaps the answer is this: Because your mind is capable of being the sun, and just as capable of being the rain.

It is this capacity to feel deeply that makes us truly human. When others look at us and say, "You are so strong," they may never know the silent pain, the hidden sacrifices, the crushed dreams behind that strength. We bend ourselves to match what the heart desires. We swallow our sorrows just to bring joy to the ones we love. We stay silent so we don't cause harm. We stay awake through sleepless nights thinking only, “What if I cause pain?”

This kind of selfless love may go unnoticed, may not be rewarded by society—but it is in this quiet sacrifice that the essence of humanity lies.

Still, the answer is not to suppress the mind—but to understand it. Sometimes, it must rain. Sometimes, it must shine. We do not need to be strong every moment. Sometimes, we must allow ourselves to be vulnerable. Because acknowledging our humanity through weakness is not defeat. Last Thoughts: When the mind wants, we can become anything—sunlight, rainfall, or silent strength. It is the mind that shapes us, breaks us, and rebuilds us. So, learn to love your mind. Listen to its needs. Don't stifle your emotions. Let yourself cry like the rain, and shine like the sun.

That, truly, is life.
