Glitch in My Life
When reality felt less like a plan and more like a computer bug

I’ve always thought of life as a program. You input your dreams, press “enter,” and—if everything goes right—you get the outcome you imagined. But then, like any poorly coded system, reality throws you an error message: “Unexpected glitch. Please restart your expectations.”
I wish I could say my life has run smoothly, but honestly? It’s been full of glitches. Not the fun kind, like a video game cheat code where you suddenly fly. I’m talking about the awkward, confusing, laugh-so-you-don’t-cry kind.
Glitch #1: The Career Path That Wasn’t
When I was younger, I thought I’d have life figured out by 25. Spoiler: I didn’t.
At 25, my “career path” looked more like a broken GPS. I tried different jobs—some I hated, some I tolerated, none that felt right. At one point, I actually thought becoming a “professional snack taster” could be a viable career (honestly, still waiting for someone to post that job on LinkedIn).
Friends seemed to have it all together—steady jobs, clear goals, polished LinkedIn profiles that screamed “success.” Meanwhile, I was glitching, switching directions like a video stuck on rewind.
Glitch #2: The Love Story That Didn’t Load
Let’s talk about romance. Ah yes, the land of red flags disguised as soulmates.
I once dated someone who said, “I love surprises!” So I surprised them with flowers. Their reaction? “Why would you waste money on this?” That was the moment I realized: their idea of a “surprise” was me paying their bills.
Love, for me, has always felt like downloading an app that promises “life-changing features” but crashes the moment you open it. Each relationship taught me something, sure, but mostly it taught me what kind of chaos I don’t want in my life.
Glitch #3: The Confidence Crash
Confidence, I’ve learned, is like Wi-Fi. Sometimes it’s strong, sometimes it drops mid-sentence. I’ve had days where I walked into a room feeling like Beyoncé, only to trip over my own shoelace in front of everyone. Nothing like an ungraceful face-plant to remind you that life is a sitcom, and you’re both the star and the punchline.
But here’s the thing: every glitch came with a lesson.
The Debugging Phase
Somewhere along the way, I stopped fighting the glitches. Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” I started asking, “What is this teaching me?”
Losing jobs taught me resilience. Failed relationships taught me boundaries. Public embarrassment taught me not to take myself too seriously. Every crash, every error message was just life forcing me to update my system.
I began to see that maybe life isn’t meant to be perfectly coded. Maybe the glitches are part of the design.
The Unexpected Update
One of my biggest “glitches” turned into a turning point. I was laid off from a job I thought I wanted, and instead of spiraling, I finally pursued something I’d always loved—writing. What started as a hobby became a way to connect, to heal, to laugh at my own chaos. The glitch didn’t destroy me—it redirected me.
The Moral of My Story
If life were a computer, none of us would ever get the “perfect program.” We’d all be crashing, rebooting, re-installing updates we didn’t ask for. But maybe that’s the beauty of it. The glitches make us pause, re-think, and grow in ways we never imagined.
So now, when something in my life goes sideways, I don’t panic (okay, I panic a little). But I also remind myself: every glitch is just proof the system is still running.
Final Thought
My life is far from perfect. It’s messy, buggy, and sometimes downright confusing. But in between the errors, there are moments of laughter, connection, and unexpected beauty. Maybe life isn’t about avoiding glitches—it’s about learning how to dance with them.
So if you feel like your life is glitching right now, don’t worry. You’re not broken. You’re just human. And in this strange, unpredictable program called life, being human is the most beautiful “error” of all.
