Coming Out of the Closet as a Naturist
Letting the cat out of the bag, so to speak!

For long enough, I could remember, I wasn't really self-conscious about my body until I reach the age of 30. I was the keep-fit type throughout my youth, going to the gym and generally happy with the body I had. I wasn't the show-off type at the gym, flexing muscles in the mirror as a female walks by.
There were enough guys at the gym that did that. Instead, I was the type that wanted to get in and do the workout within a particular set period and then hit the sauna and steam room to relieve stress and tension.
There was, however, something else that I was interested in, and that was being naked. I never felt ashamed of it. I didn't hate clothes, but I prefer going bare and feeling liberated and freeing.
(Being a naturist is more of an attitude than a lifestyle. It’s pretty easy. Just stop not being one. Don’t get dressed when you don’t have to. Be naked whenever you’re home and would otherwise “get comfortable”. Just get MORE comfortable. Sleep naked. Go to a nude beach or nudist resort and meet others who feel the same way. But most of all, understand how stupid it’s been to have been wearing clothes when you didn’t have to)
Why I choose the naked more often?
It's surprisingly comfortable! My skin can breathe and allow my body to maintain its functionality; e.g. skin cannot function if occluded for a long time. This has been a big issue for me, especially when I was in my teens and suffered from spots. I don't even mean a few, but over excessive, on the face, back and chest. I used many creams, and nothing hardly worked. Finally, I realised that my body needed a good amount of nutrition, hydration, a proper grooming schedule and exposure to my naked body to the fresh air.
A well-renowned celebrity plastic surgeon and skincare expert, Dr Michael Fiorillo, told us that being naked more often "helps the elimination of sweat toxins that clothing can reintroduce to the body and better overall blood circulation."
I also suffered from excessive sweating, which was also another factor in getting rashes and breakouts. And that I am naked more of the time, my body is getting more of the sun, which makes vitamin D. Which helps support mental health and overall body health.
You see, being naked is not just about allowing myself to be free and improve self-esteem, but there have been health benefits as well.
Where do i often get Naked?
There are a lot of things humans do today that have taken us away from our natural roots, so being naked is often something i do within my own space, or at a nude beach when the weather is warm or mild. Our society has changed and being naked now feels more like a crime than going back to way life was many thousands of years ago. Society has created a lot of anxieties about our bodies and people are now more afraid of there bodies and any imperfections. We have created a society thats more about perfectionism, especially with the amount of tv shows showing us how we can be perfect. Our bodies are not designed to be perfect. Imperfection should be embraced. Naturism takes this and throws it out of the window.
Why? you face head on with your impefections and accept for who you are. Thats not for me to say, you cant workout or improve your image, but we shouldnt be afraid with the idea of hiding ourselves away. Being naked, has helped me with body image and happiness.

When I'm not working, I generally will sit naked within my own home, but not around family. So, for now, I am mostly visiting nude beaches and meeting like-minded people with the same interests and learning from their experiences. Naturism is, after all, a social event.
Once covid restrictions are no longer an issue, my future goals are the visit naked spa's and resorts so that I can interact with people and make friends. I also plan to visit Cap d' Edge, a naturist resort in the south of France, and several nude beaches across Spain.
Every day I will continue to learn about myself, my body and the benefits of being naked.
We shouldn't be judged or prosecuted for allowing ourselves to live the natural way many of our ancestors lived. Change is needed, and let us enjoy the benefits without making out that naturism anything sexual nor wrong.
There's nothing about allowing ourselves to enjoy bike rides in the countryside, visit beaches, or go for walks. Without someone walking by, feeling distressed or insulted for seeing someone naked and enjoying life.
If you may be interested or already a naturist, please comment and connect with me. Sharing your personal stories and opinions is essential. Are culture and society now restricting us? And are we now less liberal? I'm in the UK, but I want to know what it is like for you in any country and the UK.

Thank you so much for writing this! I have enjoyed the freedom that nudity brings - at home of course, but more especially outdoors. I’ve visited numerous beaches, resorts and the occasional ‘sun club’. Mingling with other like minded souls is great because we all ‘get’ it. I’ve tried telling a few people about my enjoyment but find their responses really varied. Some go for innuendo and stifled giggles, some thing I’m weird (because of course they don’t have a naked body), one or two think it’s disgusting and shouldn’t be allowed in public. Those clothed folk who walk on the nude section of my beach are generally accepting and don’t pass comment. One woman diverted around 200 yards from her walk to tell me I was disgusting. Odd, because I was lying on my front reading a book, while my non naturist wife sat next to me. A Catholic upbringing has meant she has never been as open as me with nudity but she understands how it makes me feel and is happy that I’m happy. I’ve got a handful of friends who are cool with my decisions and happy to discuss them with a grown up maturity - which means a lot. We came in to this world naked and for me, being without clothes is our most natural state - along with all the health benefits you describe. It was lovely to read your piece.
