The year 2021 is almost over, which means we are a year older, a year wiser. Are we ready to step into 2022? There are so many of us that are scared to see what the next year will hold, and I, for one, am tired of feeling anxious. I just want to let it happen. Let whatever comes come. My outlook on this upcoming year is that old song "what will be will be". Que Sera, Sera. I know that next year will not be what this year was for me. I refuse to let it. Let the New Year's Resolutions roll!
"What are your New Year's resolutions?" I am always asked this time of year. It is always the same answer. "Lose weight, get healthy, exercise more." Well, this year it is going to be different. I am not going to make any weight or health resolutions because I know I will not keep them. This coming year, I want to take it easy. The upcoming list is what I resolve to complete this next year. Unlike the other years' resolutions, I know I can stick with these goals. I have done it before. So without further ado, this is my list:
Get more sleep! I am a night owl by nature, which means I so often stay up until the wee hours of the morning, even though I have to work in the afternoon. Well, that is going to change. I plan on setting a time to go to sleep. No later than midnight, seeing as I usually work until 9 or 10 at night. I also plan to take at least one nap during my days off. Doing this will help me stay less grumpy. I am going to work on being less grumpy this coming year.
Save money! How is this attainable, you might ask? Well, I recently found an article on social media that I was rather impressed with. I can't remember who posted it, but it gave me an idea. At the beginning of each month, I will put back one dollar. I will increase it to two dollars on the second day of the month, three dollars on the third day of the month, etc. Doing this, and I know my calculation is correct, for a month I would save $496. In just one month! That is totally doable! Granted, some months will be shorter than others, but can you imagine what you would save in a year?!
Keep a journal! I used to do this on a daily basis when I was younger. I filled up several journals by making a habit of writing in them every single day. If I had nothing to write about, I would write that I had nothing to write about that day. This way, every single page was filled with the musings of my day-t0-day life. I miss writing every single day. I want to get back into it. It cleared my mind of all the toxic thoughts I had throughout the day.
Be more proactive about writing! I have always wanted to be a famous author. That is my only passion in life right now. It has been my passion since I was in the sixth grade. Then what happened, you may ask? Life happened. Depression happened. I lost track, lost sight of my goal. Do you know what I say? Not anymore! Depression is a constant struggle for me, but I will not let that get me down anymore. I will not let that keep me from attaining my goal. I need to write, search for publishers, rewrite, edit, etc. Anything to do with writing.
Well, there you have it. My most attainable New Year's resolutions. The resolutions that I will make sure I stick with. Nothing too hard or too grueling, nothing that I cannot achieve. What are your resolutions for the upcoming year? Do yourself a favor and set relaxing goals. Easy goals. You will thank yourself later!
