October sports is one of the best months for any sport. Of course, the calendar for any sports lover is filled with games almost every day.

October Sports News – MLB

At the same time, the MLB is in full swing with the postseason.

For the third straight year; the Boston Red Sox did not reach the playoffs. Though they were more active at the trade deadline this year; the deals they made didn’t work out. In fact, the Red Sox bullpen was one of the worst in the MLB after the trade deadline. To learn more about the trades made; visit my 2024 Red Sox Trade News post.

One of the things that contributed to the Red Sox’s demise was both Luis Garcia and Lucas Sims. Garcia’s ERA of 10.23 and Sims ERA of 8.10 contributed heavily to the team losing many games.

In the end, the Red Sox ended up with a record of 81 – 81 and the Red Sox finished in 3rd place.

Indeed, there is a lot of work they need to do in the off-season to make the postseason next year.

I listened to the press conference yesterday. The bottom line is that Ownership and Management need to make better moves to ensure success going forward.

So, what moves will the team make in the off-season?

October Sports News – MLB Postseason

This month, there are many teams to watch in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers have clinched their 11th title in the last 12 years. Though they have won the division many times; they are often eliminated early in the playoffs.

To date, they have won 6 pennants and one World Series.

Now, that they have Ohtani; anything is possible.

Presently, the Dodgers remain the favorite to win it all.

October Sports News – NBA and NHL

The NBA and NHL will open their season this month. At the same time, both the NBA and NHL play 82 games during the season.

Since the Boston Celtics won the championship in 2024 there is a lot of hope for Celtic fans the team will repeat. Check out my Celtics won the NBA Championship post to learn more about their magical season.

However in the off-season; many players were moved to new teams. And, of course, there were several trades. This year, NBA fans will see more talent and better teams.

Moreover, who wins the NBA Champion this year should provide plenty of excitement.

In the NHL, the 2024-2025 season opens in Europe on October 4 – 5th where the Buffalo Sabers will play back-to-back games against the New Jersey Devils in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Last year, the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup.

October Sports News – NFL

One of the most popular sports is football.

The NFL season is underway. Check out my 2024 NFL Season Kicks Off post to learn more about this year’s teams and which teams are expected to be in the playoffs.

Although last year’s Super Bowl winner, the Kansas City Chiefs were expected to fall short this season; they are off to a 4 – 0 start.

Since it is early in the season, there are always players who end their season early due to an injury and teams that end up surprising everyone.

In addition to the above sports; it is also the beginning of the NCAA season.

Along with college football; there are many games to see at the High School level.

In summary, there are many storylines to follow.

Finally, make sure you mark your calendar for all the games that will be played throughout the month.
