Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez shined brightly on Wednesday night as they both scored two goals to lead Inter Miami to a 4-2 victory over CF Montreal in their latest MLS clash. The dynamic duo, who have a long history of playing together at top levels in Europe, once again proved their chemistry as they helped their team bounce back from a rough patch. The scoring began in the 27th minute when Messi found the net with his usual finesse, giving Inter Miami an early lead. Later in the match, Messi turned playmaker as he assisted Suarez in the 68th minute, making it 2-0. The momentum was clearly on Miami's side as Suarez struck again just three minutes later, increasing the lead to 3-0 and showing that the team had found its rhythm.

Montreal tried to respond, and they got a goal back in the 74th minute through Dante Sealy. However, Messi was not finished yet. In the 87th minute, he scored his second goal of the night, making it 4-1 and putting the result beyond doubt. Montreal managed to score again in stoppage time, thanks to Victor Loturi, but it was too late to make any real impact. The win marked a much-needed return to form for Inter Miami, who had been struggling in recent weeks with two losses and two draws in their previous four matches. The victory moved Miami up to sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings, with 7 wins, 5 draws, and 3 losses from 15 games. On the other hand, CF Montreal's poor season continued. They now sit near the bottom of the table, managing only 1 win, 10 losses, and 5 draws so far.

Following the match, Suarez spoke candidly about the team’s recent struggles. He admitted that the players needed to take responsibility for the poor performances and emphasized the importance of regaining confidence. “We had to take responsibility for not doing well. We need to fix things to get our confidence back,” he said. Suarez also highlighted how significant the win was for the team’s morale, saying that victories like this are essential for building momentum and unity within the squad.

Inter Miami’s coach, Javier Mascherano, expressed mixed feelings about the result. While he was happy to end the winless streak, he voiced concern over injuries sustained by key defenders. Gonzalo Lujan, Jordi Alba, and Tomas “Toto” Aviles all picked up knocks during the match. Mascherano confirmed that Gonzalo and Jordi suffered muscle-related injuries, and further medical tests would be needed to assess the damage. As for Aviles, he picked up an ankle injury after being stepped on, though Mascherano mentioned the defender was eager to continue playing, showing determination and grit. “The win is a bit spoiled because Gonzalo, Jordi, and Toto got hurt,” the coach said, showing that while the three points were important, squad health remains a major concern.

Elsewhere in the league, the Philadelphia Union continued their strong form with a dramatic 2-1 win over Toronto FC. Toronto looked to be heading for a shock win after Norway’s Ola Brynhildsen gave them the lead in the 75th minute. However, Philadelphia rallied late, with Nathan Harriel equalizing in the 86th minute and German defender Kai Wagner scoring the winner in stoppage time. This victory helped Philadelphia maintain their lead at the top of the standings with a 10-3-3 record and 33 points. Teams trailing them failed to capitalize—second-place Cincinnati played out a 3-3 draw with Dallas, while third-place Nashville shared points in a 2-2 draw against Columbus, who sit just behind them in fourth place. The MLS season continues to offer thrilling moments, with veterans like Messi and Suarez proving they can still make the difference when it matters most.
