Rise to Glory: Chennaiyin FC's Back-to-Back ISL Titles in 2015 and 2017-18 Battling the Odds: Chennaiyin FC's Tough Seasons in 2019 and 2020-21

A professional football team called Chennaiyin FC is situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Vita Dani and Abhishek Bachchan are the club's owners, and it was established in 2014. Since the Indian Super League (ISL)'s debut, Chennaiyin FC has been among the league's most successful teams, taking home two league championships in the 2015 and 2017–18 seasons.
The team was established as a part of the Indian Super League's expansion, which was introduced in 2014. One of the eight teams who took part in the league's inaugural season was Chennaiyin FC. The team's name is derived from the area around Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu, and the Chinese word "yin," which means "positive energy."
Legendary Italian footballer Marco Materazzi oversaw Chennaiyin FC during the first three ISL seasons. The team had a successful inaugural season, winning their first two games. They qualified for the playoffs after placing second overall in the regular season. They won their maiden ISL championship in the playoffs after defeating Atletico de Kolkata in the semifinals and FC Goa in the final.

Chennaiyin FC struggled to repeat their success the next year and placed eighth in the league. They recovered, though, and finished second in the league and advanced to the final, where they fell to Atletico de Kolkata.
The Chennaiyin FC won their second ISL championship in the 2017–18 campaign. They defeated FC Goa in the semifinals after placing second in the regular season. They defeated Bengaluru FC 3-2 in the championship game thanks to goals from Mailson Alves and Raphael Augusto, and John Gregory's team earned their second ISL championship.
The club's ISL success has been based on a solid team culture and the contributions of some exceptional individuals. The success of the team has been greatly aided by players like Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto, Spanish midfielder Jaime Gavilan, and Nigerian attacker Stiven Mendoza.
In addition to their achievements on the pitch, Chennaiyin FC has contributed to numerous neighbourhood projects in Chennai. The club has established an academy to nurture new talent in the area and has organised football clinics and coaching sessions for poor kids in the city.

Since the 2014 launch of the Indian Super League, Chennaiyin FC has been among the league's most successful teams. With two league championships under its belt, the team has made a name for itself in Indian football. The team's success has been based on a strong sense of teamwork and the talents of a few outstanding individuals, and the club's involvement in numerous community projects has strengthened its relationship with the local community.
Chennaiyin FC finished eighth in the league during the 2019–20 season, missing out on playoff eligibility. Only two of the team's first 10 games were victories as they battled to maintain consistency throughout the season. However, they were still able to end the campaign strongly, winning three of their final five games. Rafael Crivellaro led the club with seven goals and eight assists, making him the player to watch.
Due of the COVID-19 epidemic, the 2020–21 season was played in a biosecure bubble in Goa. Chennaiyin FC had a significantly improved season, placing fifth and earning a spot in the playoffs. Rafael Crivellaro and Anirudh Thapa, a powerful duo that combined for 11 goals and 10 assists, were the team's captains. Chennaiyin FC won.
In the 2021–22 campaign, Chennaiyin FC came in sixth place overall but was unable to advance to the playoffs. The club had a difficult time being consistent throughout the season, winning just six of its 20 games. They did, however, succeed in finishing the campaign on a high note, winning three of their final five games. With three goals, thapa led the team in scoring.

Chennaiyin FC has had an uneven start to the current 2022–23 season. The squad is currently in seventh place in the league after its first 11 games, having won four, drawn four, and lost three. The team's best player thus far has been Esmael Goncalves, who has five goals in ten games.
In summary, Chennaiyin FC has seen ups and downs during the past four years. The squad hasn't made the playoffs in the last two seasons despite twice winning the ISL championship in its early years. However, the club has made strides in recent years, and they will be looking to rally in the remaining games of the current 2022–23 campaign.
