The Lantern Girl: Rapunzel’s Lost Twin

In the 1600s, a German chronicle mentioned two sisters born with luminous hair. One was hidden in a tower; the other was forced to weave her light into lanterns sold to nobles seeking “eternal youth.”

The twin in the tower became legend — Rapunzel. The other, Rosalinde, vanished.

Centuries later, a grave was found in a monastery courtyard, lined with glass shards that glowed faintly even underground. The skeleton’s hair was still golden — and it emitted a faint warmth.

Monks recorded strange phenomena near the tomb: candles relighting themselves, and whispers calling from the lamps at night.

When the grave was exhumed for study, the body was gone.

Only the light remained — suspended in the air, pulsing like a heartbeat.
