The Family Photo That Kept Updating
Every year, the picture changed — even though everyone in it was dead.

After her parents’ funeral, Julia found a family photo in the attic — the last one they’d taken together. She placed it on her desk. A week later, she noticed something strange: the background had changed. The sky was darker, the trees bare.
Each year on the anniversary of their deaths, the photo updated itself — showing newer details. Her younger self aged in the picture, even though the real Julia hadn’t taken a photo in decades.
In the final update, she saw herself sitting at her desk — staring at the same photo.
The next day, her neighbors found the frame empty.
Only her chair remained, turned toward the window.
