A water bearer in a small village carried two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole balanced across his shoulders. One pot was perfectly whole, while the other had a crack along its side.
Each day, the water bearer walked to the stream, filled both pots, and carried them back to the master’s house. By the time he arrived, the cracked pot was only half full.
For years, this routine continued. The perfect pot felt proud, but the cracked pot was ashamed of its imperfection and finally spoke one day:
“I’m so sorry. Because of my flaw, you lose half your water every day. I feel like a failure.”
The water bearer smiled gently and said:
“Did you notice the flowers along your side of the path? I planted seeds there, and every day you watered them unknowingly. For years, you’ve been nurturing beauty that brightens our village. Without your crack, there would be no flowers.”
The cracked pot grew silent, realizing that what it thought was its greatest weakness had become a gift to others.
Lesson:
We all carry flaws, but sometimes our imperfections are the very things that make us valuable to the world. 🌸
